Can anyone help with ideas for a 2-3 day, inexpensive vacation for a family of four in June? I need something that is baby- and toddler-friendly since our kids will be 2.5 and 6 months old. Ideally, I'd like something within a couple hours for Chelmsford, MA.

What can I do next?

Thanks so much - I knew I would get great advice from this site! It sounds like Storyland is the way to go - any advice as to where to stay?

Another great place besides storyland is Santa's Village in Jefferson, N.H. It is very similar to Storyland but it has shade!!! The place is affordable and set in the woods. There are plenty of shows to see to rest and just take a break. There are several motels, hotels right next to the park. Contact their website for more info. I've been taking my kids there since they were three and they are now eleven and we will be going back this summer. Have fun!

if you're breastfeeding they have areas that are out of the way so you have some privacy

Providence RI is fun, you can get reasonable hotel rates at the business hotels on the weekends and they have pools. There is the Providence children's museum and roger williams park and zoo which are both great for kids of all ages. I dont' know how close the beaches are, but probably not too far to newport or jamestown if you want to go walk around, you can even take the ferry to block island.
Hope that helps!

The BEST place for kids is Storyland in Glen, NH. Your 2 year old can go on pretty much every ride there. It is geared towards toddlers. We went when my daughter was 3 and my son was 2 months. They even have "Nursing" rooms off of some of the bathrooms for nursing moms with rocking chairs and changing tables. Here is the link, http://www.storylandnh.com/index-flash.html

Hi Ma K

Our favorite vacation when my children were young
was staying at Holiday Inn North conway!
It was clean, inexpensive and family friendly.
Then we would go to Story Land. If you go late in the afternoon then you get to come back the next day free
- I would double check but that is how it use to be.
It is clean and friendly - lots to look at for babies
and alot to do for toddlers1

I have never seen a more kid and baby friendly place than Storyland in NH, including Disney. It made Canobie Lake Park look like a dump. It is maybe more like three hours, but so worth it. All rides can have an adult with the child, every ride has a baby activity outside of it, and every third ride, at least has a bathroom, which is spotless, and with a nursing room in it, never more than 150 feet away from any point in the park it seemed. They have drop off kennels if you brought your dog, right on site. They have carriages, so you don't have to cart yours there if you don't want. They aren't all commercial, they aren't trying to sell you stuff every where you turn. The food is healthy at the food areas, and there is lots of diverse places nearby to stay. We choose camping cabins, but there are inns, motels, hotels, and outright camping and B&B's if that is your thing. We have been everywhere with our kids, and that, hands down, was the best for family's. There is Clark's trading post nearby, the cog railway, and the railroad museum to name a few.
I can't reccomend it highly enough. We are going back this year. Whatever you choose, have fun!
