TV For a 5 Month Old

Ok .. I need a little bit of support. Please tell me that I am not wrong in asking my mother inlaw and my husband that our 5 month old baby should not be put infront of the TV even if its for 20 mins. while they go do other stuff. Every time I tell them they dont believe me, I say its bad for her eyes and etc. Is there acutually some documentation that it is bad for babies? Or am I completely wrong.

What can I do next?

As long as he is not too close to the TV and/or it does not become a "babysitter" it is not a problem... be glad they are helping...
Seriously, just place him away from the tv and enjoy the peace for a while.

I've never heard that it's bad for their eyes, but they do suggest you don't do it. I forget why as it's been a while since I read anything on it. I think they just say that too much TV watching is unhealthy or something. I may have read about it on www.babyzone.com as that's where I get my monthly updates on my child from and such. You could check there. I think it's more of your choice than anything, really. My daughter's been watching TV since she was an infant (probably at least 5 months old) because we bought her some Baby Einstein DVDs. She's fine so far...though she isn't quite two yet so I guess things can change.

your the mom if you don't want your child watching tv then they should not let your child watch tv.....it is up to you they say only 30min or so for a two year old and no tv before then but you never know i just go by what i feel is best for my children....mom of 3 5,3, and 3months.

I also don't want my daughter watching tv until she is 2. From what I have read it isn't beneficial or appropriate.
