Tummy Time - Los Angeles,CA
Any suggestions on when to start baby on tummy time? My daughter is now 2 months old.
So What Happened?™
Thank you all so much for your suggestions and advice. We have had her lay on our chests to sleep since she was born. I just started using the BabyBjorn so that when she takes a nap, I can hold her close, keep her off the back of her head, AND have my hands free. Thanks, too, for the words of support about going back to work outside of the home.

I have a 3 month old and I started him on his tummy already. It did not last very long at the beginning. Maybe just a few minutes because he was agitated. Now he can spend more time there but not more than 10 minutes. Good luck to you.

Start now. The sooner the better because it will help her develp the muscles she needs for later activites like holding up her head and beyond. Have fun!!

i would certainly start her now. i ran a childcare for years in phoenix and moved to santa paula last year. i have finally received my calif. license and am opening my home childcare here. i am really excited. miss the kids. all my mothers had me do tummy-time at this age or even younger as they said that is what the pediatrician recommends. how exciting for you. enjoy.

Hey Rowenza,
Tummy time is a great time to bond with your baby. I started tummy time with my daughter at about 3 1/2 to 4 months. She was crawling by the middle of her 4th month. Any earlier may be too soon. Have fun with it. Also, to encourage the crawling, try placing some of your baby's favorite toys in front of him or her. This always helps too.

TUmmy time now!!! You just put her on her tummy. It won't last long because I am pretty sure all or at least most babies hate this for a while. So she will fuss. But leave her there for a minute or two at least 4-5 times a day so she gets more strengh. Eventually she will love being on her tummy, it might just take a few months. You can also put a bright toy or two in front of her that way in a couple of months or so she will start to grab for it.
Have fun
