With both my pregnancies, (I had c-sections with both), I did NOT get that done.
I had been aware of the "issues" with tubals.... so I did not want it.

Before you go through with this procedure please do some research on Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome.

I know there are many women who have tubal ligations and have no problems afterward. I suspect there are many more who DO have problems, but don't realize the connection.

I think your husband should get a vasectomy. His is TRULY an in and out procedure... yours is major abdominal surgery with total anesthesia. You've had the children, let your man take the responsibility of not producing more.

When I saw this post, I was going to post exactly what Terra D. posted. Please research this procedure thoroughly and know the risks and ask yourself if these risks are worth living with. I am about to have a scheduled c-section in three months and my doctor has asked me if I want my tubes tied and time after time I have refused because I researched tubal and I have PMDD and I cannot afford to have more problems on top of that.

Wait. Many moms regret doing after delivery (I have two friends who have done it, and said as much). You can't anticipate how much the drugs, the hormones, the whole emotional experience of bringing a baby into the world collides with what is really a life changing operation. For them, they said it can play with your recovery and emotions more than you'll know.
Just food for thought.

I opted to wait - then never had them tied and choose another method. My "fear" - and I truly don't mean to pass it to you - is that if something happened just after birth to the baby, that would be it - no turning back. I guess what I am saying is if you are not "150%" sure you want them tied, then don't do it.

I had a tubal with my 3rd and had no problems. I had a C-Section and they did it then.
EDIT* I take my post back. I read some of the pages posted in the post below and I have some of the problems. Proceed with tubal with caution.

Ask your doctor. I would think the sooner the better.

I went straight from the delivery room into surgery to have my tubes tied and have not regretted it at all. Since you are already there at the hospital, it would be just one visit w/o having to go back after you have a baby to also be concerned about.
