TTC After Mirena IUD

Hi mama's,

My husband and I have decided we want to start trying for another child. I have an appointment with my Dr. to have my Mirena IUD removed. My question is for those moma's who conceived after they had Mirena taken out. How long did it take you after you had it removed? I really haven't had a period since having the IUD; how long did it take for your period to come back or become normal again? Thanks for any information/insight you can give me! Wish me luck!

What can I do next?

I had the Mirena for about a year and had it removed after getting married. We decided to take the "let's see what happens" approach. I never had a period after getting it removed and got pregnant instantly! I'm not joking, to figure out the day of conception they counted back to the day I had the IUD removed and the sono supported that day as well! Good luck!

Got mine out on Aug 16th, started my period on Aug 18th (normal day for me before the IUD, no period during), ovulated on Sept 1st and got pregnant! I Had baby boy in May. :)
I got a second one put in after I had him. I have had it almost 3 years now and I love it!!!! By far the best birth control ever and believe me I have tried most of them! Good luck!

Hi, My period started almost immediately but I think the removal was timed tight. It took us four months, but we didn't do all the planning, temperature taking, alternating days of intercourse and all of that other stuff. Good luck!

I had my Mirena taken out In March and my period came between 3-7 days after I took it out. I wanted to get pregnant asap and I did within the following weeks! I know they say on the commercial you can get pregnant right away or you can try right away after having it removed, but I didn't believe it, but we did. Now we are expecting our 2nd child on Christmas Day. Good luck. :)

I had my mirena taken out July 15 last summer. I had some bleeding immediately after it was removed and then a week later it got heavier, but not exactly like a normal period for me. In mid August I had what seemed like more of a normal period but it was only a day or two. By the middle of September, I had a positive pregnancy test! I had to have an ultrasound to pinpoint the conception date... turned out to be late August, or about 5-6 weeks after I got the IUD out. Now my son is 6 weeks old and perfectly healthy and happy! I wanted to share my story with you because I read online before I got it out and found mostly horror stories of it taking months, years to get preg, or never... or that getting pregnant soon after would cause miscarriage or complications. Well, luckily I had a great experience. Good luck!!

I had mine out in January. Never got a period. Had a miscarriage in March (apparently really common because of residual hormones). Got pregnant again in July. Had my second daughter in April.

I have always had very regular 28 day cycles and conceived my first on accident (ie, very easily while not on bc). After getting my mirena out I had one period then got pregnant the very next cycle. Hope you have the same luck!

I got pregnant 2 weeks after removal with my 2nd child. This time around though, not so lucky! I've had it out for 6 months now with no luck! Crazy how our bodies work sometimes. Good luck!

It only took us 4 months. Which was way quicker than when I went off the pill for baby #1. That took nearly a year.
