Trying to Get Started Losing Weight
This has been so hard for me this time to get started. My husband can eat anything and stay thin. I just look at it and I am 5 pounds heavier. My last baby is now 8 months old and really there is no excuse for being overweight now. I am just at the point where I don't know where to begin. I have done this before Lost 60 lbs on WW but I just can't seem to get started. Any suggestions???? I have about 75 pounds to lose. Does anyone struggle with this. I wake up every day and say to myself. I am going to start today, only to fail. HELP!!!!!!!!!!

Hi M.,
I haven't read the other responses so I apologize for any redundancy. I wanted to lose weight for a long time but every time but my husband continued bringing home fast food and ordering Chinese take-out. He finally started to take me seriously when I joined WW. I know you said that you tried that, but did you do points or core? My sister-in-law is having the same problem with the points as you are, it's her second baby and she's just lost her drive. I'm on core and the menu really is quite bearable. I threw out most of the junk food (I have to leave something for my 2 1/2 yo and husband) and stocked up on stuff I can eat. My husband actually likes most of the core recipes I make (he doesn't eat fish so I make it when he's working).
I started out strong and lost my drive after the first 2 weeks, but I am ready to start again. Try core for a couple weeks or set a small goal (7 lbs?), take a break but don't go crazy, then start back up after a few days or a week. Get rid of hubby's junk food and he'll have to go shopping for himself or be more supportive.
Good Luck,
Bridgette

I have a 6.5 mos old son and I just started this week doing the couch to 5k program on http://www.coolrunning.com . After he wakes up, I put him in his bouncy center and I run on the treadmill. It gives me a goal to look forward too ( a local 5k race) and it helps me lose weight. I have lost some weight already. Good luck!

Girl, I take it one day at a time.....I wish by now they would already discover a magic pill that could take away extra weight.LOL Gosh,my hubby can eat all day long and he is so thin. Why does it have to be sooooo hard.
The best thing that I have ever discovered to help me with cravings(I have a sweet tooth) is Luna bars for women. They are not cheap, but help during "emergincies":)
Best wishes, today is a good day to start:)

Hi M.,
I lost close to 40 lbs 2 years ago on Jenny Craig. I was thrilled with the results, however once I succeeded in losing the weight I acted as if I "were done" SOOOO...as the story goes! I Gained the weight back and then some!!!
Everyday is going to be a fresh start!!! Then I blow it!!It is too late for a bikini summer but not for a bikini Christmas!!!I don't live in a warm climate but if I could do it just for the sake of it I would freeze!!!I say I want it bad and I would do anything to get fit!!!Except the work I guess.
I read your letter and I thought we could both start tomorrow. We know we could do it because we did it before!!!Thanks for unknowingly giving me a push. I am posting this so others might want to join in!!!!I do remember, it is a complete lifestyle change!!!!NOT just the willpower!!!Eat often...healthy light meals, drink only water and MOVE!!!!!!Lets get started!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!GOOD WISHES~L.~

Hi M.!! Don't be so hard on yourself...you've had 8 children!!!!
A friend of mine suggested this site to me because it is absolutely free. It's called "sparkpeople.com" and when you register you can make your profile on there and see all the things they have to offer. I started last year and was doing great, but just like you I eventually fell off the wagon. I'm still struggling, but I'm feeling moremotivated to get moving again. The bottom line is we're not getting any younger and even though losing weight will make us feel MUCH BETTER, we also need to keep ourselves healthy so we can be here to take care of our families!!!
I know WW is great too, I just don't have the money. Check out that website. There is so much support on there as well.
Good luck!

Hi! I too have a weight problem. I need to lose 150lbs so if you find a magic solution let me know;) I was doing well at loosing weight and had lost 60 lbs and my thyroid went haywire.
As all weight loss programs say get your doctor involved and make sure that there is nothing wrong. Simple blood work made me realize I was not crazy and did have more of a problem than what I put in my mouth. I was so tired I would fall asleep nursing the baby and I would sleep 10 hours and wake up tired and I gained 15 lbs in 5 weeks with exercise and watching what I ate. As for motivation I still haven't found anything that works every day but I want to go kayaking with my daughters and my dad said he would buy me one when I was small enough for one! A.

I am there with you. My son is 4 and I finally am motivated to lose weight. My motivation was health, I started to have a high heart rate because of my weight. First, I joined a local 24 gym for only $10 a month and go after my kids go to bed for an hour (I am a night person, my friend goes early inthe am before her ids wake up). Then, since I grocery shop, I only buy food that are not tempting to me. I bought only healthy foods, the 100 calories snacks, or snacks for my kids that I don't like. I figured that it does not hurt for my kids to not have junk food. I then sat my husband down and talked to him about how important this was to me, and asked him not to eat the things that really tempt me in front of me and went over in detail what I meant. Then I joined weight watchers. The first 2 weeks were hard, but since then it's been good. I don't lose weight every week, but in total I'm down 20lbs in 3 mo. I have about 45lbs to go. If you want more info on how I"ve been able to satisfy some of my cravings, get in my 5 fruits and veggies a day and not be starving allo day long, please contact me. It's good to have a weight loss buddy to encourage you, give you tips, and say it's ok when you've had a bad day. Losing weight is really hard, and you've got 8 kids so you are real busy!! I only have 3 and it is still tough. I just want to show my kids what healthy eating is. Good luck!

I am struggling too. My baby is 10 months old now and I have about 40 lbs to lose. I am putting a blender on the counter and making shakes in the morning using Arbonne's protein and fiber mixes. It keeps me from missing breakfast like I tend to. I also use the On the Go Chews when I want to snack. I am about to use the Fizzing Tablets for energy because boy do I need it! I'm just starting so can't comment on numbers yet but like you, I've done it before and lost 30 lbs that time.
Let me know if you have any questions.

M.= I struggle with this too. I am a mom of 2 girls and the youngest is 2. I lost 50 lbs last year but I put 25 back due to mahor stress in my life. I am doing WW online and it is a help to talk to the ladies on the boards. We have a great support group for each other.
My biggest problem is that I buy things for the kids and hubby and then I eat it. I did best when most things in the house were WW friendly. The kids ate it and so did he. I just began cooking healthier and they went along with it. I have begun again to start to pay some attention and the weight is going down slowly. I will take it!!
I have about 100 lbs I would like to lose. I take it one day at a time. I look at all the sadness around me and realize I need to do this for ME and then look at my girls and realize how much they NEED ME and do it for them too.
