My husband and I are trying to conceive our first baby but I am not ovulating and haven't since I went off the pill in January. I have seen my doctor and have had plenty of tests done...I'm perfectly healthy, I just don't ovulate. My doctor is recommending Clomid....does anyone have any experience with it? Good or bad? Need some real life experiences here. I would love to start a family.

What can I do next?

I have tried Clomid 3 times, it does help me ovulate. I have not had any side effects from it besides not taking it with food in my stomach. Good luck.

I used clomid to conceive my daughter. The first time we conceived was the second month I took it, that pregnancy ended with a miscarriage at 10 weeks. The second time we used it we conceived the first month (and had my daughter). I felt fine taking the clomid, no nausea or anything like that. Just be sure that you don't take it for more than 6 mos. in a row. It can cause your body not to respond to it. I also found that tracking my temperature didn't really help me to know when I ovulated. I bought some ovulation test sticks from Amazon and that worked better than taking temps for me. Good luck!!

Hey L.,
I took Clomid to conceive my second child. The side effects I felt are similiar to first trimester pregnancy--nauseated, tired, etc. I believe there is a slight increase in likelihood of twins, but not much. It worked for me....Goodluck!

We did Clomid to get pregnant with my son (he'll be 3 in December). After 18 cycles...we finally got pregnant. It worked well for me...I usually produced about 5-6 good follicles on it. Of course, the month I got pregnant, I only had 1. We've been TTC #2 now for 2 1/2 years (since my son was 3 months old) and have had no luck this time. Clomid didn't work as well in the beginning, so they had to up my dosage of it...I was on the highest dosage most doctors even like to use, and after 4 cycles of that with inseminations, it still didn't work. It has a lot of icky side effects...headaches, hot flashes (these are the worst), mood swings, etc. Anyway...it works for some people, not for others. It is by far the least expensive drug for ovulation, so if it works for you, great! Good luck!!!

My Dr wanted to give me this & said there was a possibility of twins who knows maybe even more -met a lady at the park with her quadruplets! & her story was the same as mine...had one child & just wanted one more. You never know what you're dealing with when it comes to this kind of stuff. So I was totally freaked out & said "No way!" well, it took 3 yrs to concieve, but it did happen ...In God's timing I believe :)

I know a few people who have conceived their kids after taking clomid...I know that it can help!
One of our friends had the same problem when she went off the pill and she took clomid and became pregnant almost right away. My understanding is, it forces your body to ovulate.
Good luck.

I'm not one for using drugs, so I don't recommend it. What I do speak, is pray diligently that your womb be opened that you will be able to bear and bring forth a child. Have your husband pray, and as many other people pray for you. It is the Lord alone who gives and takes life, so ask Him! Blessings :)

May Father grant you the desire of your heart and equip you with the ability to raise and nurture your child according to His perfect will of obedience.

I was on Clomid for both of my children. There really isn't side effects that I experienced. The only thing I didn't care for was the taking of my temperature every morning to monitor when I ovulated. It only took being on it for 4 months with my first before getting pregnant and 2 months for my second.
Good luck with starting a family. If you have any other questions feel free to email me.

Clomid has been a great thing for many people. I used it for a bit, but I don't think I should have. I was ovulating but my fertility specialist recommended it anyway for a "stronger" ovulation. Anyway, on the lowest dose, I ended up ovulating 7 eggs at once. So the only thing I would say about it is make sure you are carefully monitored while taking it. You should get ultrasounds to check the ovaries and see how many follicles are being produced. Good luck!

I know many who went on clomid and worked within the first cycle of it especially those who had all tests and were perfectly healthy. I have two friends who had to do it two times before success but again that is great, one friend who when she did it first time got pregnant right away. Another friend who used it and became pregnant with Twins. Good luck to yoU!

Hey there, my husband and I tried Chlomid for eight months way back when we were trying for our son (who is now 5, daughter is now 2). Apparently, you aren't supposed to be on it longer than a few months as your body counteracts it if you take it longer. Be sure to talk to your doctor about how long you will be trying it until other methods are explored. It didn't work for me and we did a whole lot of other things to have our two kids (three years for the son, one year for the daughter, but OH SO worth it!!!). I have two friends who used it with terrific success. One was only on it one month before conceiving her daughter and the other was on it three months before conceiving her son. The effects are also really different for each person. I didn't have any mood swings up and down, and neither did one of my friends, but the other had a very difficult time with elation and then depression. Good luck and hang in there! Kids make the world a much brighter (and more tired! ;)) place.

My cousin and her husband had trouble conceiving and finally conceived their first two daughters with the use of Clomid. A word of warning...they "accidentally" conceived two other children after having used Clomid to help them conceive the first two! Maybe its effects are longer lasting than we've been told!
