Trying to Find a Hobby I Actually Enjoy.

So I do a ton of things, cook, sew, knit, bake, read, but none of them actually holds my interests. I start knitting pot holders or a dish rag, and I get bored. I've tried more complex knitting, sewing baking projects. They are fun for awhile, but I just am not into it. I have tried scrapbooking and just about any craft out there. What else is there? I get so bored not doing anything, but cleaning up after my son. When I have down time I'm usually on the computer because none of the projects I started on don't sound like fun. So what things do you do to amuse yourself?
I'm starting a garden, I cloth diaper and that usual entertains me for a bit (random I know), I just need something to do. I would love to volunteer somewhere, but I don't ever have a good babysitter and my son's only 17 months old so I would spend more time watching him than helping if I could take him.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

I do have a blog about cloth diapering largebummies.blogspot.com but it's just an occasional thing. Nothing huge or trying to get more and more readers. Just something that I like to send my friends who are curious about cloth diapers.

Thanks Mamy! I really do have a lot of energy. It comes from my past. I used to be a theatre major before O, so I was always doing something. I'm going stir crazy with this sitting around doing nothing business. I love the down time, don't get me wrong. I just wish it was more productive. I'm in a major that I don't have a lot of homework. Most of it gets done in class or my teachers are awesome and don't assign work. My son keeps himself busy. He is always getting into things. Just today he discovered my new clothes hamper. It's one of those fold up wire kind. It looks like the tubes that are made for kids to play in. Well he took out all the clothes and started playing in it. He's such a cutie. And he loves to read. We read a lot, but he loves to sit in his wing back chair I got him for Christmas, and just look at the pictures. Love how easy he is now. (knock on wood)
Oh and I've attempted to teach myself several different instruments. Alas, no prevail. Thanks!
Thanks gals, but theatre is to time consuming. And I don't have someone to watch my son while at rehearsals. i would take him, but since we have to be out the door so early, he has to be to bed early :( I would do techinical work, but that is more time consuming than the acting part! Techies are first to be there and last to leave. I used to lighting design so I was at the theatre about 80 hours a week. I often times slept there. That is how time consuming it is. No one really ever knows how many hours of labor goes into theatre.
The thing is I don't ever finish any of my projects. I just don't have the motivation/drive to finish them. After about a row of knitting, I am just so bored!

You don't have to leave the house to volunteer! Try a site, like www.volunteermatch.org and select "virtual opportunities".

Also, keep in mind that most non-profits need administrative help. When my son was still taking 2 naps per day I used the time to arrange services (snow removal, house cleaning, meals, etc...) for families with critically ill children through a local charity. So, if you find an organization that you are passionate about, call and see if there is something you can do from home.

I think there are even online programs for helping children do their homework.

Good luck!

How about hiking. We hike as a family and really enjoy it. Or biking. I have a two seater thingie I attached to my bike when my children were younger. We really got alot of use out of it.

Before kids I use to go to garage sales and buy old furniture. Then take it home and refinish it. It was a lot of fun. I keep thinking I should start doing it again. Just moved into a bigger house and need some more furniture.

Megan, I would love to know where you get all your energy, seriously.
You are a single mom of a almost toddler, work part time, and go school, and you still have energy for a hobby!
I am getting old, lol.
I love, love to decorate for Holidays, but that you can only do a couple times at year, I also liked to play games on line, some times read and I get every once on a while this cleaning craziness where I clean to almost sterilize, but I guess that last one not may a hobby.
I went through the other replies and I liked the idea of Yoga.

I read, write, cross-stitch, participate in a community orchestra (that one would require a sitter though), and play an MMO (online computer game). I tend to need a lot of change, so I will do one for a while, then switch to something else. But I do read quite regularly - it takes me away, and each book is different.
Good luck!

How about a musical instrument? I'm picking up gutair (again, lol).
There's nothing wrong with trying everything...just means you're a jack of all trades and will have knowledge in many areas! =)
