Trying to Decide Whether or Not to Do Consignment Sales

There are a couple of consignment sales coming up next week...one for kids items and one for women's clothes...and I am trying to decide whether or not I should be a consignor at one or both sales. I know I'd probably receive more money for my items by participating in these sales versus just taking my stuff to a re-sale shop, but I'm not sure its worth the hassle of preparing all the items, taking the items there, picking up the unsold items, etc. I'd just like to hear some opinions of those who have been consignors at sales before...was it worth the time you invested, would you do it again...why or why not? Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

I have been doing consignment sales for the past 15 years. I have not spent money on my children's clothes since they were 2. I just sell last year's clothes to buy this year's clothes. And I still walk away with $600-$1,000. Check out: http://www.consignmentsalequeen.com/p/getting-started.html for tips on how to maximize your profit while minimizing your work.

It's worth it as long as you have quality stuff that you're pretty sure will sell. You will make money. It is time consuming, if it's really only a week away you might not have enough time. Stuff that sells really well is usually brand name and ultra clean and you can donate at the end of the sale vs. having to pick it all back up. If you have gear like outside toys, kitchens or work benches and other ride-ons by all means sell it at the consignment sale, it will sell! I would do it again for sure because I made more money off of a smaller amount than what I took to Once Upon a Time.

I do the Just Between Friends-NRH sale twice a year and have made an average of $900 per sale over the last six sales. It is a lot of work but you make so much more than a resale shop. I usually have around 300 items- clothing, toys and baby gear. I moan about it the entire time I am getting prepared; but then jump up and down when I get my check :)
