Trying to Conceive - Grand Ledge,MI

My husband and I are trying to have our second child. I stopped taking the pill in April and have not ovulated or had a period since then. I went to my doctor and I just started taking prometrium (progesterone). I'm supposed to take them for 10 days and then hopefully have a period. My doctor's hope is that my body will then ovulate. If not, he said we could start Clomid. I'm so scared that I'm not going to be able to have another baby. With my son, I stopped the pill in May and was pregnant in August. Please let me know your thoughts. THANKS!

What can I do next?

As I tell my clients, you need to stop obsessively thinking about it - it's a block on your body. Stress also blocks pregnancy from occuring at times. If you just relax and let go, it can happen.

If I were you, I'd let nature take it's course for some time and not push the extra hormones through the body at this point. It may be taking longer for your body to clear itself from the pill. It took me over a year without making it a chore.

I had trouble getting pregnant and got so caught up in "what could be wrong and how can I fix it" that this didn't occur to me until almost a year later...

...Adoption is a wonderful way to add a beautiful child to your family.

I'm so glad I had trouble concieving, because now I have my daughter (from China) and one year later I got pregnant with her baby brother! I was so glad he didn't come along until after we adopted because otherwise, we wouldn't have our precious girl as well.

I just wanted to remind you in case you weren't thinking of it. Whatever you decide, I hope things work out for you. I know how disappointing it can be to have trouble concieving.

Hello M.

I don't want to turn this into advertising for myself but infertility can have a lot to do with not having your body in balance nutritionally. There have been great results with both parents taking Shaklee's basic nutrition program for at least 2 months. Many people spend thousands of dollars on fertility doctors when just getting on a nutritional program is all they need. You may contact me for more info if you would like.

Just wanted to share with you...I do not have regular periods at all (like 3-4 times a year when not on birth control), so when I stopped birth control I was always worried about being able to get pregnant. However, I have two wonderful boys now! The worst part was trying to figure out every month if I was pregnant. It was a lot of pregnancy tests - every month - but I was able to get pregnant twice without having a period at all...Good luck!

I would try acupuncture. I hear it works great for pregnancy. I have not tried it for pregancy- but a coworker has with great results. I have noticed others post about it on Mamasource, so you could try searching older posts for information about it.

M.,
I am a chiropractor in Birmingham and the focus of my practice is pregnancy and children. I have had a lot of success with people with fertility issues. The nerves from (both your and your husbands) lower back travel to your reproductive organs and control it. If there is some sort of interference in the message being sent from your brain to those organs they may not function properly.
I would suggest finding a chiropractor and you and your husband get under regular treatment for a couple months! Whatever you can do to help both of your systems function properly will be good!
A good chiro can also suggest diets, exercise, supplements, etc.
Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help!

FYI- age can be a factor however I will be 37 next week and it took me one week to conceive my second. The first was 3 months.

That being said - I was not on the pill or any other birth control that my body had to get back into the grove. A couple months may not be long enough for your body to get into the grove.

Relax and let a few more months go by - but do not stress!

M. hey there i would give it another month or two give your body time to adjust to the whole cycle thing .try not to stress that seam to make it worse relaxs and try to have fun with it the whole trying thing,
