My nephew is currently on his second deployment to war. His Popa died yesterday morning, we contacted the red cross and did the paperwork to get the death verified and subbmitted a request for his furlow (permission to go to funeral). His commanding officer denied him and told him "if you never lived with him it's no worse than losing a friend". My nephew was raised by his single mother and the only "father figure" he ever new was his Popa, and at many times in his life he did live with him. We have contacted the govenor of his home state, and as soon as they are in I plan to call every government office I can find the number for and if I dont get anywhere with that then we are going to the media. If you know a reporter or any government official that could help please let me know. My nephew is a volunteer for the Army National Guard and has fought in this war to protect our families here. So why is he not able to say good by to the man that help raise him?? Please help us get him home I reside in Ca. and my nephew is from Ok. To me I feel he is being held hostage by his commanding officer. PLEASE HELP US GET HIM HOME TO SAY GOOD-BYE TO THE ONLY "FATHER" he knows. I will take any lead or number or help if there is a chance it will get attention to get him there.

So What Happened?

Yes our work paid off and he made it to the funeral. God Bless all of you for your info and words of support. He said his good-bye and had closure. Just sorry we had to go through all this mess. Thanks again.

Sorry to hear of your loss, but I did ask around here in the office and one of the ladies here is a mom to a marine and stated that he should check to see if maybe he has some vacation or time off days accumalated. Also another thing that you might try is contacting your local tv station.

Hi H.,
My father was in the military for almost 30yrs and he told me to have you get in contact with the Inspector General. They should better help you out in this situation.

Good luck and God Bless!

What about O'reilly factor Fox News? I don't know if he would help but maybe?
Here is Bill O'reilly's Web address: http://www.billoreilly.com/
I know people will e-mail each other about this type of situation. Would that be OK?
I really hope he can come home for this.
