Tricks to Get Pregnant...

Hello Mamas,

Again I come to ask some advice from all of you! My hubby and I have been trying unsuccesfully for about 5 months now to get pregnant and it hasn't happened. I understand it hasn't been nearly that long, but you all know that when you are trying part of you feels like it's been an eternity!

Anyways...do any of you have any "tricks" that either your doctors or grandmothers told you helps to aid in getting pregnant? (And have "worked") I am not stressed about this, so please don't suggest relaxing because at this point I have decided it really doesn't matter when it happens, but if I can up my chances every month, I would appreciate that!

Thanks in advance for all of the wonderful responses I know you all will give!

P.S. Have been tracking my ovulation on babycenter.com, have used ovulation tests for 3 of the 5 months, and baby number 1 was a total shock, so we are at a complete loss here!

What can I do next?

I never paid attention to my ovulation, but we just had sex every other day at night from the last day of my period until when the next one was supposed to start. (It makes for a happy hubby too!) But stay laying down when you are done to help everything move along better. Good luck!

A bottle of wine and nothing good on TV did it for us.

Best thing I ever did was read the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility. Any woman should read it whether trying or not.
Not only did it help me learn my cycle but it also gave me everything I needed to know to present things to my doctor to get the ball rolling faster when it came to starting infertility testing.

Both of my children were unplanned, but there was a commonality with both conceptions. Each time I had just started a weight loss regimine and bought a CASE of tampons. I don't think that the tampons had anything to do with it, but I was decidedly eating healthier and excersizing more. I think healthier living has a lot to do with it, and I've read lots of studies that say being overweight, and smoking can decrease your chances of getting pregnant drastically. I'm not trying to say anything about your health or assume anything about you. I was living healthy in general, but turning it up a notch seemed to help me!! Hope that helps.

Both times I conceived, it happened in the morning! I also suggested that to a friend that was having a bit of trouble, and the first month they tried in the morning-success! Worth a try...good luck!

Don't count your days on the calendar. Just plan a few very romantic evenings with your husband and let mother nature take over. We tried for a year without success. Then we bought our new house and I was focusing on that and lost track of my dates. I got pregnant the first month in our new house without charting dates!! Good luck, I know how frustrating it is to get your hopes up every month. But it will happen!!!

I got pregnant with both my children on exactly 10 days after the start of my period. A friend of mine the same. Try it!
Good luck!

I assume that you know about 'wet = fertile' by checking your discharge. While they say most women get pregnant 10-14 days after the beginning of their 'monthly', our oldest daughter and I found that our fertile period is more like 6-10 days in (I have 4 'kids' -- youngest, 22, is getting married this Saturday, and oldest daughter was pregnant 4 times also. Lost one @ 5 mo). Anyway, look for clear discharge.
