Tree Removal Referrals

I'm looking for recommendations for a landscaper/company to get a quote to remove a dying tree at our Buffalo Grove home. Right now we have a quote of $1200 to remove a 40'tree near our house including the stump and want to make sure it is a reasonable quote.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thank you to everyone who provided recommendation for the tree removal. I ended up using Beaver Tree in Arlington Heights. They did a great job and charged over $200 less. I am actually having them come out again to brace a tree that is starting to split.

Kinnucan Comprehensive Landscape Management in Lake Bluff. We're having a dead pine cut down (it's taller than the house by a long shot) and it will cost $350, including removal and grinding of the stump.

Good thing you asked - that is definitely a high quote (depending on the tree, of course.) I have been using Dan Schiferl of Beaver Tree Service - ###-###-#### (Arlington Heights) for years. Always the lowest, so nice. Please call him - he absolutely deserves it!

$1200 seems like high to me. We used Clean Cut Tree Co. to cut down a huge Oak that was hanging across our roof. It was $600. 847-816-TREE is the number. They are in Libertyville.

We paid $1100 or so 10 years ago to remove a giant weeping willow from our yard, so to me, that seems reasonable, but the quote below sure sounds awesome.

Call Beaver Tree Service. They are really good.
