Traveling to Mexico, Carseat Question
We are going to a resort outside of cancun in july. We are wondering what we need to do as far as the carseat traveling too and from the airport? Has anyone traveled with a toddler and what did you do? I do not know if they require carseats over there like they do here. Any advice would be great!!

Please don't check your carseat if you don't have to. Do you know how they handle them? Will it be returned to you in the same condition you gave it to them? I, personally, wouldn't risk it. This is a item that could potentially save your daughters life. If you have a seat for her and can use it on the plane, great! Also...does it matter what they require in Mexico? Do what is best for your child. A car seat is always a good idea!

Definately take a carseat, People drive crazy in Mexico. Use it on the plane it is more comfortable for them. I don't think they have a seat law but I would'nt go by that. Plus like I said a carseat besides safety allows them to see and is more comfortable for them.

If you check your carseat as luggage, the airline won't count it towards your maximum allowable luggage. I bought an inexpensive carseat bag with wheels to help me carry it into the airport. My son sits on the airplane without his carseat, but I have seen people who have stroller frames that they attach their carseat to and then they install the seat in the airplane. I would strongly advise you to use your seat in Mexico even if they don't require it. Driving is even more crazy when you travel outside the country, believe me!

We went to puerto Villarta last summer with our then 4 year old son and 7 month old daughter. They could care less if you use a car seat. We took my sons booster and my daughters car seat and used them to and from the airport. They were shoved into a carseat travel bag and checked at the airport. We never went anywhere else. This year we bought our daughter a seat on the plane so it will be used on the plane too. If you can find the stroller that you attach a carseat to, it is worth it! That way you dont have to check it as a piece of luggage. I think you can find them on "one step ahead".
