Train Place in Hudson?
Hi-
I heard about a train place in Hudson, WI where little ones can ride a train. Does anyone know what I am talking about? If so, what is the name?
I am thinking of it as a place for my 4 year old's birthday. He will be inviting 4 boys.
So What Happened?™
Thank you all so much for your responses! This is my first time using anything like this or blogging and I just cannot believe the outpouring of responses! I haven't decided anything yet but Choo Choo Bob's is full up for the weekend of his birthday party.

You can take rides on real trains on the Oceolo-something or other rail line from that area, but I'm not aware that it is the kind of thing for a young child's birthday party. There is a train place in St. Paul that does birthday parties for children--it is Choo Choo Bob's or a similar name. The Jackson St. roundhouse just east of St. Paul is a RR museum and might do something for children too.

You might be thinking about the St. Croix Railroad. They have a website, but its not very helpful: http://www.stcroixrr.org/ It does have an email address though. I'm not sure when and how often they give train rides.
The trains are model steam engines with "cars" attached that people can sit on. We went last month and my 3-year-old had a great time! The trains go over bridges and through tunnels. Its a really amazing place. Lines were VERY long though! Hope this helped!

The Minnesota Zephir is in Stillwater. Also, Lake Harriet has a small train that is very affordable and the ride is only 15 minutes or so. They are old trolley cars--really fun!
Best of luck!

The one you are thinking of is the St. Croix Railroad. It is just south of Hudson right near the St. Croix River. I don't think they specifically do birthdays unless you plan it for one of the days they are open to the public. I think just the 3rd Sunday of the month or something like that. But previous posters indicated talking to folks at ChooChoo Bob's train shop in St. Paul because they know the people who run it and would know all the details. I think the St.Croix Rialroad is only open through October and then closes down for the winter. Depending on when the birthday party is you could also contact the Jackson Street Roundhouse in St. Paul. They offer parties and I believe you can coordinate a train ride (full size trains)

The train store, Choo Choo Bob's, in St Paul, might have more information about the St Croix Railroad (miniature trains kids can ride on), as the store holds an event there every year. It only operates for the public once a month, and the lines are very long. It is fun, though it's hard for me to imagine how a party would work there. There's also a train ride (actual train) in Osceola, and there's the Jackson Street Roundhouse in St. Paul. Yes, my kid is into trains, can you tell? Good luck!

I just heard of a place yesterday, but it's in Spooner, WI. There's a website. It's http://www.spoonertrainride.com/
It's about 2 hours from Minneapolis, so a bit far.
