Toy for 11 Month Old

He is most likely bored b/c he is mobile and wants to move, move, move. Exersaucers are restrictive and it is all about walking, climbing, etc. My two kids went through the same and it is an adjustment for you. I had to just shift expectations. No more sitting quietly and playing. Go for walks (with no goal, just enjoy him walking and stopping to look, discover), climb the stairs 50 times, etc. do you have an indoor play center? It is like gymboree on steroids. Where you pay a fee and there are juggle gyms, balls, trampolines, etc. I just saw a quick email from babycenter.com based on age that gave some good ideas for indoor entertainment too.

Both my kids would spend hours taking the credit cards out of my wallet (I emptied it of coins so they would not choke) and trying to put them back in (motor skills). And pulling things out of my purse and back in.

Check out Leapsnbounds.com They have a small indoor swing set that my girls (as well as both of their classes) Loved! It was at their school. I'm not sure about the price, I looked once and concidered it, but don't remember. It was in the toddler room at school, so it's just the right size for your son!

You might be able to find a small ball pit. When she was a little older than your son, my daughter loved jumping around in a ball pit. Or, just fill a pack'n'play with tons of ball-pit type balls.

My son's favorite toy at that age (and for years and years after) was Measure Up Cups, a set of 12 graduated nesting/stacking cups with animals, numbers, colors and a load of suggestions (in English and in French) on how to use them comes in the box. You can find them at www.toysofdiscovery.com

He is definitely too old for the exersaucer and jumperoo. If he loves to climb, then make him an indoor obstacle course with cushions, pillows, boxes, laundry hampers, etc. Play "basketball" with socks and a box. If you really want to buy him something - perhaps for his 1st birthday?!! - how about a trampoline or a toddler-sized basketball toy? Toddlers seem to love basketball.

First of all he is way too old for the exersaucer and
the jumperoo. Sounds like he needs new toys, not
necessarily climbing toys, just age appropriate toys.
Get the Fisher Price and Little Tykes catalog. There is
so much out there.

I know it's not something that looks like it has a lot of bells and whistles (because it doesn't) but it is really quite engrossing once he starts playing with it. It can be put together a lot of different ways and it really helped fine tune some motor skills. Plus, it's very nice to look at and play with when you just can't take another singing toy.

My son LOVED a music table at this age- his was LeapFrog. It had buttons and switches and he could walk around it, which was great. We bought him a push-and-ride toy for his first birthday and that was a hit as well. Ours is a Lightening McQueen that lights-up and plays music. He alternates b/w riding and pushing still (17 months) and likes to hide his "stuff" in the seat. My husband also hung an outdoor swing from the beams in our unfinished basement.

Try not to buy too much this close to his first birthday!

You should go to Wood Kingdom in Hunnington, they have fun stuff for him to do and you can see what he likes to play in before you buy it, they have so many nice things to play on and its a real nice place to have a birthday party. i myself have a 7, 6, and 3 yearold and always find the perfect gift for them to play on there.

My husband and I have found that a great website and catalog for kids toys and safety items is onestepahead.com. There is a wiggle tunnel that we are thinking of getting for my daughter and there are a bunch of other toys depending on the space you have.

Hide most of his toys for a week. Then bring out one and hide another. They have short attention spans and he will be delighted with the 'new' toy.
