She just isn't ready. When she's ready, she'll stop. I know this isn't helpful but it is true. Good luck and realize she won't always poop her pants. There are some great bathroom books you could try reading to her. Mo Willhems has a great book about pooping. Thers is also a book called "Everyone Poops".

Find something she is crazy about and don't let her have it any other time (at least for a while)except at potty time. Let her know that she gets this only after she poops on her potty. After pooping the first time she will surely get the message. And will be motivated to do it again! Make it fun. Also be aware when her poo time is. Whether morning or evening. This encourages success.
My son was using the toilet at a very young age- 14mos. (thanks to the diaper-free concept), but when he did poo he got a reward, if he did it in his potty. And after a few times- no problem. There may still be accidents, that's normal, but rare. The first reward, when he did poo on his potty, was getting to flush one of those mini toilets that sound real. He loved that! Then when he started preschool it was one M&M, when I picked him up, if he did poo in the potty. After two rewards he was using the potty. He likes chocolate a lot!

She feels like the poop is a part of her body and it is scary to let it fall into a toilet. This is common. You need to explain to her that the poo is the part of the food her body doesn't need to stay healthy - - - I told my son it's like taking out the trash - it's important not to leave the trash in kitchen because it starts to smell - and it's important not to leave it in your body too long because it can make you sick.

Good luck and be patient - - - thinking back potty training was way easier than teaching my daughter to drive....LOL

Watch the time. If she poops around the same time every day, try to encourage her to sit on the potty a few times during that period.

It may be a bit embarrasing, but let her see you poop and let her know it's okay to do it in her potty like you did in your big potty. She may be uncomfortable pooping in it.

I remember my nephew used to hide behind the couch to poop. As soon as he felt comfortable pooping with his mom around, he did it in the potty.

No help here. Rachel was not fully trained until a month before her 4th birthday. Talking to other moms it seems like kids will train when they are ready to train. Good luck!

Hi T.,
Sorry if you get this message twice. I wrote it out and then hit something weird and it all disappeared. So...

My son had the same problem. He toilet trained when he was 3, but wouldn't poop on the toilet for 9 months. I was sooo very frustrated. I tried everything, but all of the other moms that I talked to told me to just back off. Don't talk about it, don't mention it, don't acknowledge it. If she poops in her diaper, just clean it up and do not talk about how the next time she should go on the potty. Give her no attention for pooping in her diaper. Eventually, she will realize that she isn't getting the attention that she wants and will poop on the toilet. I set a goal to not talk about it for a month with my son (after listening to many, many moms) and within 3 weeks, he went.
It also helps to let her run around naked when you know she has to go. My son finally went when he couldn't hold it anymore and I just casually suggested that he use the toilet, he did, and was surprised at how "easy" it was. No more pooping in the diaper.
I totally understand your frustration and I wish you much luck!

Your daughter isn't completely ready to be potty trained. I would stop altogether for a while until SHE shows signs of being ready. It'll be much easier for you and her if you just wait until she is ready to use the toilet. We waited with my 2 older kids (now 7 and 3.5) until they were ready and it only took a few days to train them. She knows that her pooping right before you go somewhere is a source of power for her because you have to stop whatever you're doing.

My son still goes in his pants as well, and I have tried everything from toys, to sticker charts, to candy and nothing has worked. I put in a request on here a while ago and all the other ladies told me it's just something they have to do on their own.
I would say, maybe start to leave 15 min before you have to go anywhere, fake the funk, so she goes and then you have time to take care of the problem.
Or, maybe she needs to be in pullups still so she can go pee pee on the potty, but poo poo in her pull up. Just try everything untill you find something that works, and if nothing works, lay off, wait a week or two and then try again.
Another gal on here said she took her son around and showed him where the dishes go and said, "dishes go in the closet", then she showed him where the clothes went, etc. untill they reached the potty, and she said "pee pee and poo poo go in the potty" and her son totally got it. I didn't try that one, but it's a suggestion! Hope you figure it out, but don't stress over it!

Hi T....

First off let me start by saying dont listen to the mom's who say that your daughter is too young and you should stop potty trianing her and so forth. Just cause someone else cant potty train their kids early doesnt mean you cant do it. My daughter is completly potty trained and she just turned 2 a month ago. She pee's and poops and goes all by herself. She wipes and re-dresses herself when she is done. To me... Potty training is about when your kid is ready, as well as when your ready. If she will pee on the potty then it is just a matter of time, till she will poop on it. Dont give up..cause as soon as you do you will have to start all over again. We gave up for a trip and when we came back after 2 weeks..all the work we had accomplished went down the drain. Keep at it. It took a little while for my daughter to get the hang of pooping on the potty as well, after about a wek of continuous on and off the pot. When she'd poop in the pull up I'd throw it into the potty and let her see that it went there instead. You have to really watch her though and watch for any signs that she is about to poop and rush her to the potty, even if she has already pooped in her pants, put her on the potty anyway and let her go. Just leave the potty out for her and she will eventually get it that she can poop on there too, and eventually she will go when ever she needs. My daught3er just up and walked ot the potty one morning and said I gotta poopy, and there she went.
As for the pooping right before walking out the door..it just happens to happen that way. My daughter used to always poop her diapers right as we were ready to leave. Just plan for it. Plan to leave 15 minutes earlier than you were supposed to and let her sit on the potty right up until your ready to leave. See if that helps if not just plan to change her diaper right as your leaving. Hope that helps and GOOD LUCK. Dont give up and be patient..it will happen in due time. Dont let people discourage you and your daughter.

When I first started Potty training with my daughter at about 2-2 1/2 years it was a nightmare. but she started realizing all the kids in daycare were going to school and she wasnt so she asked if she could go to school too and I told her she has to potty in the toilet like a big girl! needless to say she was trained in a week!! so give her an incentive it will work

Hello T..
I am a stay at home mother of 2 boys. I have a 5 year old and a 7 year old! Having a 2 year old will make you late most of the time. So what I use to do is leave 15 minutes earlier than I was suppose to. But before you leave...put the potty trainer on the toilet and encourae her to breath and go poops in the pot. Do this everytime you are about to leave from anywhere. This sounds time consuming but after 1 month the baby should be trained to go in the pot. Another way is write down the times she goes poop every day for about a week and narrow it down to the usual time she goes poop and put her on the toilet everyday at that (poop) time. This is how we toilet trained our boys. You can do it. Its teamwork toilet training a 2 year old!
