I have seen some amazing help from you Moms out there. Maybe some of you have ideas for me. I broke my big toe and had sugery to have a screw hold the pieces together. It went well and is healing nicely. There is not a lot of pain from the sugery itself and the swelling is troublesome, but also manageble. My problem is the bandage! I can't sleep because the bandage annoys me. lol I also have to sleep differently to keep it propped up. I also realize that I am not getting the excercise I was getting before. I plan to give myself a good sit and be fit workout (lol) starting tomorrow, but any other ideas about how to get to sleep?

What can I do next?

OTC melatonin helps me relax so that I can sleep. I know an older woman who, on the suggestion of her doctor, takes an antihistamine to help her sleep. She takes generic form of Benedryl. Antihistamines are not addictive like prescription sleeping pills. OTC sleeping pills often contain an antihistamine.

i have had several surgeries over the past few years, and between pain and being wired from the pain meds(they don't make me tired like they do most people) and even just being nervous that i'm gonna roll over and bump something, i usually ask my surgeon for a week or two supply of ambien. it's much easier to recover, physically and mentally, if you are getting good sleep. hope you are feeling better soon!

Try getting some Advil PM....it helps with pain and it's over the counter........I've been on all kind of sleeping pills and this works just as good.......you might also, if you can tolerate it, wrap your foot in foam......like you put on top of beds or in pillows.........that way if you bump it, it's padded.....just a thought.......

Take care, get well and good luck.
