Toe Nail Fungus - Home Remedies

I know that this is a crazy question, but does anyone have a cure for toe nail fungus. What started out as discoloration has turned into thickness of the nail and more. I heard that Lamesil doesn't always work, so I'm looking for any help!

I am a nail care professional and I have a client who when she came to me she had gotten a fungus from a not so clean salon, she has tried everyhting to get rid of it including prescription medication. She read that using Hydrogen Peroxide will get rid of it. I saw her today and her toenail is alomst back to normal. Try it and let me know how it works.

I got a toe nail fungus from a nail salon about 4 years ago. I tried several topical treatments (including tea tree oil) which did not work. I finally came across Dr. G's which did work. It had my toe nail (which by then was very thick and embarrassing) looking much better in 4 months and "cured" in 8 months. I used Dr. G's sporadically for another two months. It said that you would not have the fungus gone until one year and that you should continue to use the solution for another 6 months. I did not heed this advice as I felt like I was "cured" after 8 months. Within the next year, my fungus was back and it was starting on another toe. Yikes! I couldn't find Mr. G's anymore and the little bottle I had was almost empty. However, it had the active ingredient (benzalkonium chloride - broad spectrum), so I looked everywhere for something with the same active ingredients (while trying other remedies in vain... including dipping my toe in straight bleach, which I had read would help). Anyway, to make a long story that much longer... I finally something called ReclearAF at Walgreen's with that same ingredient and started using it two years ago. Wait, don't get scared... it cleared it up again... this time in about 11 months (my toe had gotten much worse this second time while I was looking for something) and I have been using it every day for the past year even though there is no longer any sign of the fungus... I'm not taking any chances this time around.

I would definitely recommend this product, even though the cure takes a very long time. Basically, as I have read on websites that talk about any toe nail fungus cure, you have to wait until all the infected nail grows out, which takes about a year and then continue treatment for some time afterwards to ensure that it stay away.

Here is a link to the product on Walgreen's website, so you know what you're looking for in the store (ugly packaging, but good product): http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jsp?CATID=305057&a...#

Hope that helps! It will get better!

J., tea tree oil is a natural solution that kills fungus. Many pediatricians use it now. I work for Melaleuca and would be happy to send you a sample to try (not trying to sell you:). You could just try it to see if it works. Let me know, N. ____@____.com ###-###-####

one of my best girlfriends had this problem for years and after trying several treatments, a dermatologist recommended Long Creek Herbs Herbal Foot Soak... go to longcreekherbs.com. She said it cleared up after the nail grew completely out, and she has not had any repeat of it. only caveat is that the herbal soak is quite stinky! but the upside is that you only have to soak the feet for a couple minutes each day.

good luck!

I got fungus on my finger nails from my nail salon. Dr. G'S is wonderful I buy it at Sallys Beauty Supply, you can also find it on Ebay usually cheeper and sometimes you can get two for the price of one. On your toe nails, I cut my down as low as I could (without it being painful) and kept the Dr. G's on there everyday twice a day and kept it trimmed. My Dr. told me it can take 6 months for a toe nail to grown out comepletely, she also told me to treat the nail on either side of it. Dr.G'S you can use and keep the nail painted as well, so it dosnt look so bad. Good Luck!!

LAMASIL DOES WORK BUT YOU SHOULD ONLY TRY IT UNDER A DOCTOR'S CARE. THEY HAVE TO RUN LABS ONCE A MONTH BEFORE YOU GET IT FILLED TO MAKE SURE THAT IT DOES NOT MESS UP YOUR LIVER. ALSO MOST INSURANCE COMPANYS WILL NOT AUTHORIZE WITHOUT THE DOCTOR GETTING A TOE NAIL CLIPPING.

HI J.,
Your question is not crazy! My mom and brother both have foot fungus issues. They have tried everything! They noticed that taking showers made it worse. Soaking the feet in warm water everyday or taking a bath for them to soak helped tremendously. There is a lotion that has glyconutrients in it that may help your toe if you apply it twice a day. I'll be more than happy to send you more info on that. You can call or email me.
Hope that helps :)
Blessings,
A.

Just make a quick stop by Sally's Beauty Supply and ask them for it. It will be in a yellow box (can't remember the name). It's cheap & works absolutely fantastically, although it is quite toxic. So keep it away from little mouths. Good luck!
