I highly recommend the Koala Bear vitamins that you can get from Melaleuca in Idaho Falls, ID. They taste really good! The are easy on the kids, have the vitamins and minerals that you Pediatrician will love.
Best of luck!

The pediatrician recommended that my 19 mo son start taking a vitamin supplement -- Polyvisol. It tastes really horrible! Can you recommend another kind? And how has your child reacted to it? Thank you!

I started my daughter on supplements when she was about 5-ish months old. Her doctor recommended Polyvisol (with or without iron, knowing that the iron one tasted worse), but said that as she got older, we should get her onto the iron one Well, she hated it at first, so I switced her to Trivisol, which tastes really good. With her morning cereal and fruit, I put the drops on her spoon so that she's gettig a bit of vitamin with each bite. Once she was about 9 or 10 months old, I started bringing the Polyvisol back in (without iron). She fussed a little bit with it the first day or so, but after that, she's been a trooper and has no problems with it now. I still can stand the smell, but hey, I'm not the one taking it! As soon as she's done with this bottle, I'll move her to the "with iron" variety and we'll see how that goes.
FYI--my now-6-year old son also started with Trivisol, then moved to the Poly and then Poly-with-iron. Now he's a happy Flintstones vitamin taker. No worries.
Try Vitamin D drop for baby and toddlers from wholefoods. they are about $25 and you put a drop on a clean pacifier. I usually give it to my baby before I feed him when he is hungry.
I'd recommend asking a pharmacist. Even our 4 year-old is only supposed to take 1/2 a chewable vitamin per the pediatrician which knocks out all the gummy ones.
Most multivitamins are slightly different, and there's a reason your pediatrician recommended Polyvisol, so I'd see if the pharmacist knows of anything comparable before making the switch.
Our daughter was on 1/2 Flintstone vitamin from ~18 months on if that helps. She's now 2.
I just started gettin my son's vitamins at the health food store. No dyes and it tastes great. He is getting Animal Parade. There are lots of brands and they taste good.
It depends why he's being put on a vitamin supplement... If it is for iron (I think Polyvisol is geared specifically for iron as well as providing other supplements), most healthfood and grocery store brands may not contain sufficient iron. Perhaps you can check with your pedi and see if Schiff's brand has sufficient iron; the reviews claim it has a better taste... But of course, the higher the iron, the more the taste will be impacted...
(Sorry, I can't recommend Schiff's myself. My daughter didn't need an iron supplement; we used Yummi Bears, plus a DHA supplement and Animal Parade calcium)

Try mixing it in a small amount of liquid or go to a health food store and look for an alternative. You could alway up his veggie intake and see if you can eliminate the supplement all together. We didnt start our son on a multivitamin until the age of two, Flinstone's has a My First Vitamin for 2 year olds.
Was there a reason for a specific brand? For just a regular multi: I buy the generic brand at the grocery store and they are equivalent to the Flinstones brand on the shelf next to it. I looked online at the values for Usanimals and was not impressed in comparison. My daughter likes the animal shapes (actually, she thinks they are all "meowies") and the taste--she loves her vitamins and frequently asks for them in the mornings.
My son has been taking Usanimals since he was 18 months old They are considered the #1 safest and purist child's supplement in the U.S. & Canada. But please make sure you research every supplement we all are suggesting. Many have traces of leads and other dangerous particles. Here is a comparison that was done between the Usanimals and other popular store brands: http://bit.ly/2Xx8pa
You can find the Comparative Guide to Nutritional Supplements for Children that will rate many of them maybe even the one that he is taking now. Here is the link: http://bit.ly/childsguide
They also have the one for adults who are wanting to know the best supplement to take for a Multi-Vitamin. It is on the same website.

I use Child's Life liquid multi which you have to get at a health food store like Whole Foods or Fruitful Yield. I was recommended it by a naturopathic doctor. It tastes yummy! It's mango flavored.
Last time I checked, Whole Foods was having a hard time getting it in, but Fruitful Yield in Berwyn always has it.
it is gross but the polyvisol without iron isn't gross. So if there isn't a reason that ur child needs extra iron try that one.
I, like some of the other mothers here, put it in a couple of ounces of orange juice mixed with water. My daughter's pediatrician recommended this, so we've been doing it for about a year and a half. She doesn't notice the taste and looks forward to her morning cup of juice with vitamins.
Great place for those. I can get you in connection to a wellness company - wholesale costs - and 10 times more soluble than over the counter products. contact me: ____@____.com
Mix it in with your child's milk or juice. They won't notice the taste.
We buy our kids Nordic Naturals Nordic Berries Multivitamin. They LOVE them! (And my husband and myself do too!)
Hi, what is funny is that my daughter just loved the Polyvisol! She looked forward to it every day! Funny how kids are. Maybe your doctor could recommend a different supplement - depends on why they need it. Good luck to you!!!!
My son had to take Polyvisol too for lowish iron and would gag every time. After struggling with trying to get him to take it for several weeks and trying to increase his spinach intake, the doctor said I should try a chewable with extra iron in it. We did a Flintstones vitamin with extra iron and he loved taking it every morning and his iron was fine by the next visit. Guess it depends on how many teeth your son has. MIght be worth a try.
My daughter takes the Trivisol. You can slip it into their food or drink so they don't notice it.
My young children take USANIMALS, a pharmaceutical grade, complete vitamin. The best available on the market. It is a berry flavor chewable but can also be dissolved in juice, yogurt, applesause, whatever your son eats. There is also a complete vitamin for teenagers and adults. I've been giving it to my son for almost a year (since he was 2). Since my son won't eat chewables, I give it to him by mixing it with a little orange juice (it kills the bad taste) and he drinks it right up.
