Toddler Travelling Crib???
I guess I am wondering what other Moms do in terms of a crib for their toddlers when they travel. My daughter is now too big for our Pack N Play, so I am looking for something she can sleep in while we are away. I need something with sides... she still sleeps in a crib at home, and I definitely don't trust her to sleep in a bed or in anything without sides as she will just climb out. And preferably something that is not too heavy and is portable. Any ideas are appreciated!

I second the peapod idea. I was reluctant because of the cost (about 80), but it was great for my son. I wasn't worried about him rolling out of a bed, but more about him getting up and going for a stroll at 3am :) He now climbs right in and goes to sleep. Super easy for travel!

All great ideas already. We have also just put the bed mattress on the floor, when staying in cabins or friends place. One other idea is a crib rental. In California, we used Babies Away, $10 or less/day, depending on length of rental. They will also deliver and set up if requested. Here is a list of rental places in CA, for example:

There's a lot of good suggestions already and I was glad to see many of them as I have the same questions for my 2 year old.
THis isn't REALLY portable but it works well for places you are driving if you have a big enough car.

We got it in a natural finish and it's really nice, super sturdy and folds flat (but still not small). We've used it for trips where we are driving.
Good luck!!! THanks for asking a great question!

We went the cheap way - just took a few hotel blankets, put them on the floor for him, and called it a night! It worked wonders. Now I don't even think of bringing anything extra or renting anything. Good luck!

I have tried different things. I rented a folding full sized crib once when we rented a beach house for a week. (www.basicbabyrentals.com) Some hotels have cribs they can put in your room upon request. And I have even used our old pak n play. If your toddler can squeeze in the pak n play, maybe that's the easiest way to go (get the shoe horn!). Good luck and have a great vacation!

We use one of those Peapod tents....my kid likes sleeping in his own bed so the first few nights were throwing him in and zipping up the sides, soothing if necessary. After he got used to it he climbed right in.
Nice quality, easy to set up, a bit expensive but my kid knows when he sees it now that we are not sleeping at home, and it should last him a few more years until consistency is not such a huge deal (I hope)

why not just a sleeping bag on the floor? She can't roll out of it...
Or.. i have seen in the one step ahead catalog an inflatable "bed" for kids that has little sides on it. It's close enough to the floor that if she gets over the top of the rolls she will not hurt herself. It's a bit pricy though.
