Toddler Swimming Lessons near Minnetonka

Any suggestions on Fall swim classes for a 2yr old near Minnetonka? He has done one session at the Williston Fitness Center during their Winter/Spring session. He did well and progressed to blowing bubbles, jumping off the side of the pool into dad's arms, back floating with support, etc.

We were looking at Foss Swim School in St. Louis Park or Chanhassen. It seems to cost quite a bit more then other classes I've seen offered. Any Advice?

What can I do next?

All 3 of my kids take lessons at Foss in SLP. It is a bit costly, but my husband and I feel it's worth every penny. My girls are doing amazingly well. My son just started, so he has some work to do to be actually swimming, but he's already making progess. I highly recommend Foss if you want to see results and have happy kids who can swim.

I would definitely recommend Foss. My older daughters started there (at St. Lois Park) when they were 5 and 3. They are now 10 and 8 and are still swimming with Foss, but we have moved to the Blaine location since they have progressed out of all the levels taught at SLP. They are now doing the pre-competitive, swim team style lessons. They love it. We now also have our younger 2 taking lessons (they are 5 and 3).

Foss is very good at teaching stroke basics and mechanics and they are very consistent from teacher to teacher.

On a side note, Foss has parent-child lessons until they are 3 and then the kids take them on their own. We started all but our oldest at 3 and none of them had any problem doing the lessons on their own.

My son received excellent instruction at the YMCA. You don't have to be a member to take lessons.

We have done Foss and were pleased with the instruction and progress. We then went to Martha Burns in SLP. It was amazing. More expensive but a much different way of teaching. Younger kids are paired with older kids, parents watch from the waiting room. The younger kids feed off the more advanced kids and each child gets one on one attention taking turns.

The children no longer use a parent as a crutch and gain independence and confidence. We were was blown away with the results.

As a competitive swimmer from age 9 to 19, swimming is an important part of my life and want it to be important in my kids lives too

My son (4 1/2 yrs. old) has been taking lessons at Martha Burns Swim School in Hopkins since August. We love it. There is only one class, with no more than 5 students, in the pool at a time; and they don't use flotation devices. Not sure how the price compares, but I know of several families who switched from other swimming lessons elsewhere to come to Martha Burns.

I also would go with FOSS as my DS of 6 months and I signed up for classes starting in August! i really like the facility and the fact that the classes are super small :) It was a little more than I thought it would be but we are going to hawaii and I want my LO to enjoy the water as much as possible. On another note Ive heard that if you are a member of lifetime fitness you and your little one can take classes for $5 a class??!! I considered this but I am not a member lol!! Hope this helps!!

Foss is worth the extra money. Small class ratio, warm water and tons of encouragement. The kids progress well with confidence in what they are doing.

We love Foss. Our son loved it and really learned a lot. They are great. We have done lessons at Edina and St. Louis Park. We love SLP location. We will be going back.
