Toddler Hat And/or Sunglasses Recommendation?

So my 2 yr old daughter pretty much refuses to wear a hat. She'll put it on her head for about 5 seconds and then take it off. Any tips on helping her keep it on (we've tried floppy hats, baseball caps, velcro under the chin, snaps, etc)? Or am I just out of luck?

She also loves mommy and daddy's sunglasses, but refuses to wear her own (Baby Banz). I think with the sunglasses, she just doesn't like the strap going around her head. Any suggestions/recommendations on toddler sunglasses that have the actual parts that go over the ears (and maybe a strap to help keep in place?).

Thanks so much!

So What Happened?

My concern with the "cheap" sunglasses is with the UV protection. I don't want to (and can't afford to!) spend a fortune, but if I'm buying sunglasses, I want them to work for their intended purpose. :) I hear that the sunglasses that don't have 100% UV protection are actually worse for the eyes because the "dark" lenses allow the pupils to dilate and lets more UV radiation in. I just can't seem to find something that meets the "no band", 100% uv protection, not too expensive" criteria and still fits on my 2 year old's head.

Update: Thanks for the recommendations on the "cheap" ones with 100% UV protection. I haven't really made time to look (it's JUST getting hot and sunny here in the Chicagoland area) but I'll be sure to keep my eyes peeled.

Some of the cheap ones have UV protection! I buy from Old Navy, Childrens Place and Gymboree. They are cute too. Besides wearing these cheap ones is better than nothing! *I looked online and found nothing about pupils dilating etc. and letting more UV radiation in.

In regards to hats, some kids want to wear them and some don't. Simple as that! My daughter gets in her moods and doesn't want to wear them and other times she always wants to wear them.

Well besides duct tape... I don't know!
LOL

Kids will take it off.
Some just will not leave anything on their heads.

They have NO fully developed impulse-control yet, at this age.

I absolutely love Julbo sunglasses. They cost more but block 100% UVA/B/C. I also love them because the Looping 3 don't have a wrong-side up or down... no matter how your toddler puts them on, they're right! Plus you can keep the strap or get rid of it. There are no hinges to break or catch hair/fingers in and they are practically toddler-proof! I bought my daughter's through Gatortots.com If you "like" Gatortots on Facebook they send out coupon codes monthly.

We live in Texas adn spend a lot of time outdoors...hats and glasses are a must. My kids didn't like the strap after six months of age either. We bought them regular sunglasses for toddlers, with no strap (around age two we'd show them three and let them choose one pair) . We have never had an issue with them staying on that I can recall. We do buy them a sunglass strap, so that if they need to take them off they don't get misplaced. As far as the hat, our daughter is a bit like that. We let her choose her hat and it's just a rule that she wears it. Obviously when we are out and about there isn't too much we can do, but at home if she won't wear it, we take her back inside. She's slowly learning that hats are like shoes, there are times you just have to wear them.

Buy a couple to three pairs of cheap ($5 or less) children's sunglasses that don't have a band. Y'all will lose pair or two along the way but at least she will wear them because they are like mom and dad's.
I don't know what to tell you about the hats because my three year old is the same way and has always been. We just keep trying and sometimes he will wear a hat and sometime he won't.

For the hat, I have never been able to keep hats on either of my children. Sorry I couldn't help on that one.
Sunglasses on the other hand, we have had many. You can get toddler sunglasses at most retailers, just look for the ones with the 100% UV protection sticker. I have yet to see a pair that doesn't have that on them. They have them at Kohl's, Target, and Wal-Mart. I have gotten pairs at all of those places, because my children area AWESOME at losing things (as am I so I can't complain *laugh*) They do make some that are called "Kid Tough" that are much harder to break. I believe those were at Wal-Mart and ran about $5.

edit:
OH! and Children's Place has a great selection of them! They don't cost a fortune, but are still the 100% UV protection. If there is a store near you, I would go and check them out, they are almost always on sale, or else try the website.
