Dear Moms- My 19mth old is consistently wetting through his diaper at night. We use pampers baby dry style diapers. He sleeps 12-12.5 hrs at night and in the morning the diaper is overflowing and his pjs are wet. Do you have any diaper suggestions to help him with overnight wetness? We still give him about 8 oz. of milk at night before bed. Many Thanks!

What can I do next?

We use Huggies, which seem to work, but we also eliminated the before bed milk. Our doctor said at this age, they don't need to drink before bed. So our son gets 8oz sippy cups of milk at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So he is done with liquid intake by 6:30-7pm. That has eliminated the leaking.

he doesnt need a bottle before bed so try to wean him off of that.....stop all liquids by 7pm, you will want to get him used to that anyway so eventually when you start potty training he wont have night time accidents

They used to have diaper doublers at Dominicks, but I haven't found them in awhile. Basically, they are maxipads without the adhesive. I would try just buying some incontinence pads. The other suggestion is Huggies overnight diapers. My 3 1/2 year old is still in diapers and although they are soaked in the morning, he has never had any wet PJs

I have a 23 month old boy and we had that problem, too. I switched to Huggies Natural Fit during the day and for nighttime, he uses Huggies Overnights. We rarely have a leaky diaper when we use the Overnight diapers as well. I also use these more absorbant diapers when we are in the car for 3-6 hour rides to see family. Hope this helps!

Hi...

Just wanted to let you know that we were having the same problem with our 1 year old daughter and so I just started randomly buying different packages of diapers to see if I could find ANY that would keep her dry through the night...and we found one...believe it or not it was the White Cloud brand of diapers at Wal-Mart. When I figured this out, I started buying one size up from what she was currently wearing in Pampers (that is our "day" diaper) and I buy the large box of them. When I compare the White Cloud diaper to her Pamper diaper it is thicker and bulkier, so even though I wouldn't want her to wear a diaper this thick during the day, I love it for over-night and we strictly use them as her night-time diapers and she hasn't wet through them yet. I've been using them for 2 months now. Our little one doesn't get a bottle before bed, but she does get a sippy of water with her evening snack. The diapers are not expensive at all--especially if you buy them in the large box--- but I would suggest, if you are interested, that you buy a small pack first to try them out. Hope this helps! :)Kimberly

Have you tried going up a size in diapers? We buy the next bigger sized diaper just for night time. Also, your child probably does not 'need' the milk before bed. If this is a comfort thing, maybe start cutting back on the amount of ounces you give him to wean him off of it. Of course, don't forget to brush his teeth after the milk so that the teeth aren't bathed in sugar all night, promoting cavities.

We had the same problem. We cut out our son's bottle at 18 months. We switched to Huggies Overnights and even went up a size in diaper (at night only). We also started restricting his liquids after dinner. We let him have milk at dinner and then half a sippy cup of water spread throughout the evening. Eventually we were able to switch back to regular diapers at night by doing these things. Good luck!

Since I started using Huggies Overnights at night, my twins have never leaked or exploded again. They can still get very full, but it holds up under the pressure. Check the Sunday paper for coupons, too. I see them almost every week for $1.50 or $2.00 off.

When my son was that little I had that problem with Pampers too, I switched to Huggies and never had a problem after that.
