To Share a Room or Not?
Right now my 3 kids have their own rooms. The oldest two have big rooms, and the youngest has a much smaller room, but good enough for a young guy, he is only 3 right now. We are being given a nice bunk bed set by the people I used to nanny for, so we are considering putting the boys together (5 and 3) to share the bigger room. The small room would then become the toy room (which is currently my entire basement.) The kids are getting some gaming tables for Christmas, so we'd like to go ahead and start making the transition, plus use the bedroom in the basement as a guest room as planned when we built the house. I grew up sharing a room and liked it until about high school. Do any of you have kids that share that don't recommend to do it if they can have their own rooms?
So What Happened?™
Thanks, Mamas! I was thinking they would be okay, but remembered disliking it sometime growing up, really when I got older. The boys do not spend too much time in their rooms as it is, and like to watch movies together at night sometimes anyways. We do get into the "GET OUT OF MY ROOM" matches sometimes, but I think they will be good. We are going to redo the room (into a Toy Story theme) for now, and they are both really excied! YEA!

I shared a room with my sister my entire life. We had bunk beds. My sons shared a room till jr high and then I cleaned my spare room up for the youngest to take over. I think the boys will be fine sharing a room, it's good for them and they will do lots of night time bonding chats.

The 5 and 3y should be able to share a room. My concern would be the 5y sleeping on the top bunk. If it were me, and it was possible, I would have the bunk bed be 2 twins on the floor.

We have a 3 bedroom house with 2 children. Right now our daughters sleep in the same room and love it. (Also 5 and 3) We use the other room as a playroom.

I had to share a room for most of my life. :) I didn't mind it, looking back. My big sister might tell you it was a burden to have the little sister around, but we were also 4 years apart as opposed to your boys being only 2 years apart. My boys that are just over a year apart have always shared a room and next year when we (hopefully) move, they may all have their own rooms for the first time! I'm kind of excited, yet worried. I know my oldest son will be fine, but my younger son is so attached to his big brother..he may have a little trouble settling. I guess what I'm saying is, either way, they will be just fine. :)

I grew up in a two bedroom home. I have a sister who is 2 1/2 years older than me. We shared a room up until she married at the age of 21. My husband also shared a room with his two older brothers. Not both at the same time. They would switch up every now and then. His younger brother was 6 years younger than him, but they were like best friends.
I see nothing wrong with it at all!! Go for it!

We have a four-bedroom house, and our two boys share a room. They are almost 4 and 2 years old. They have had to work out some sleeping issues, but they really like sharing a room. It's sometimes a bit too much fun for them, if you know what I mean...
We also have a one-month-old little girl, and she is in a room with me and daddy right now. As soon as she is sleeping through the night, she will be in with her big brothers, too. As they get older and want their own rooms, then we'll change the arrangements. Right now, they all want to spend as much time together as possible. How can I say no to that?

Well my two boys shared a room 2 1/2 yrs. They are 4 yrs and 2 mo apart. Then my son and my daughter shared a room for about 2 yrs. They each had there own bed. My daughter and that son are 2yrs and 2 mo apart.
They loved sharing a room but we have 5 bedrooms and my oldest needed his old room. So we just switched everyone to get their own room.

we tried having our 8 and 3 year old together for quite sometime but the younger one is way too light of a sleeper and every time his older brother would move in his bed it would wake up the younger one. I think as long as neither one has any sleep issues then it should be fine. I liked sharing a room with my older sister when we were younger.
