So, I have had a cold for over a week and finally went to the doc. He said most likely sinusitus. He took a strep culture, blood test for diabets, chest exray and urine test. EVERYTHING CAME BACK NORMAL. SO, my question is this. What else could be causing urinating a lot, and wahst would cause my urine to have a strong odor. I coughed so hat=rd a did urinate a little. I changed clothes andput my other in laundry room. When I wen back, I could really smell it! What could it be?

What can I do next?

Diet soda is not "fluids." Soda is soda...junk. (Especially, if it has chemical sweeteners.) I does NOT hydrate you. Water, 100% fruit juice...those are fluids. You are dehydrated. You need to drink lots of water. Your body (kidneys, needing it the most) can not work properly, or detox without water. Lots of it, every single day. Hence, the stinky pee.

I'd say dehydration if the urine test came back negative for infection. Whatever you are eliminating is so concentrated in your urine that the smell is more powerful. Your urine should be very pale yellow. If it's bright yellow or dark, you're dehydrated. Also, certain foods can change the color & odor - asparagus is one but there are others. That is harmless but it also shouldn't be all the time - once it's eliminated, it's gone. And that doesn't seem to be happening to you. The other possibility is some of the increased mucus from your sinuses & post-nasal drip. The solution for all is more water.

Try cranberry juice as it is a fruit juice that helps the bladder too. I agree that the diet soda is not helping at all and is probably hurting you. You should increase the water but don't overdo it. 8 glasses a day is okay but you may have heard about these crazy contests that force people to drink too much water - at least one woman died. I'm talking about gallons and gallons, mind you, but that excessive water drinking is hazardous. The leaking when you cough is normal. If you rinse your underwear in the sink and then put it in the laundry room to wash fully later on, the smell won't be as obvious and the urine won't stain.

just a guess but maybe you aren't hydrated enough.

Really pump up the fluids if you are sick.

I always think urine on clothes smells stronger than say on toilet paper, ugg tmi but you asked.

I was thinking the same thing as VM. Drink half your weight in ounces of water starting tomorrow morning when you wake up. A big glass first thing when you wake up and then drink half before lunch, and the rest by the time dinner is done.

You'll have to go pee a lot tomorrow, but in several days, you won't need to so much. I think that you are holding a ot of fluids, and you need to flush them out. It will also help you get better.

A bladder infection? Wait I just read you said all tests came back normal, but that would've been my first guess. I'm not sure then, probably just related to your being sick.

It sounds like toxins aren't excreting through your body properly. Do you have Wi-FI or use a cellphone often? If so, turn off Wi-Fi when not in use and the cellphone shouldn't be in the same room while you are sleeping. When in use, it blocks the cells from releasing metals, toxins from the body. This may not be your problem at all but why not try everything.
