Tiny Daughter

I'm trying to do some shopping for my 3yr old and NOTHING fits her right. She needs a size 4 in length and a 2t to a 3t in the waist. I bought the adjustable waist band pants in a 4 and they go down almost small enough but they are so bulgy and she says they are hurting her and leggings in the size 4 just fall right off. I don't know what to do I'm at a total loss.

What can I do next?

I had the same problem with my daughter when she was that age. She was very tall but thin. What we did was buy a lot of skorts and shorts and just kept an eye out for leggings and pants that were longer than usual in the 2t and 3t sizes, or "skinnier" size 4 items. A lot of times, her pants looked more like capris or "high-waters", but she wore her clothes very well and they always looked very cute, even if they were short. Cute shoes and socks help too. :-)LOL

You can also sew a cute bottom "cuff" on short pants to make them longer. There is that eyelet lace stuff or a cute coordinating fabric you can ruffle at the bottom of a pair of jeans that will make them 1 to 2 inches longer. If you go into those real expensive little girl boutiques, you can see how they do that all the time and they charge a fortune for a little pair of jeans with a little added fabric at the bottom and maybe a matching bow belt.

Also, and you may do this already, I always washed my daughter's clothes in cold water and never dried her clothes in the dryer. This helped keep any shrinkage to a minimum so she was able to wear her clothes much longer that way.

Good luck!

Well, in our house it was dresses with tights, or now the super cute baby doll type shirts with leggings would be perfect! She wont likely be able to wear many jeans, maybe a size 4 slim would work? But, you can do tights with boots for extra warmth in the winter too. (leggings with boots work well too!) And if you are worried about a really cold day, maybe tights with leggings over them. Gymboree's leggings always seemed the longest and leanest to me, but it has been a while since I had to buy them. Good luck, I feel your pain on this one!! ~A.~

Hi R.,.
I think our daughters hang out with each other. (Kiersten and Bailee) If so Thats cool you are a member on here. Anyway.. I shop for Abby at Childrens Palace in the mall. She is not a small girl, but the size we need to fit the waist the pant legs are to long. So i shop there. We buy lots of leggings and dresses, and skorts. I also found a place call the Pumpkin Patch at the Galleria Mall in Dallas. They have every kind of size you would need. There sizes are marked with ages of the kids. You can find long lenght pants or pet. Prices are GREAT. They have an AWSOME cler. rack too. Hope this helps

I have the same problem with my daugher who just turned 3. I usually buy all her jeans at Gap in a size 4 the adjustable waist band works great. I have purchased other adjustable waistband jeans at Gymboree (waist is to big)and Old Navy (run to short). Gap works great so you might try them. There leggings run big so I wouldn't buy them. I did get some at Target yesterday that fit her a little big, but not to bad. We also buy lots of dresses with tights. They seem to work out for us. Best of luck.

You might need to find a seamstress that can custom fit your daughter.
Good luck

I have the same problem, I would love to hear your responses

dresses and leggings- best bet - we didn't even try to do jeans when dd was that age - still a problem now at nearly 6 - she is in a 4 jean.

try baby doll shirts and leggings until she grows a little more...
