Tick Problem
My dog has ticks and I have kept him in the house and he still some how keeps getting ticks. I use Frontline on him and that just doesn't seem to be enough to do the job. Anyone else having this kind of problem? Can anyone please help me on what I can do to get rid of these ticks, what product do use anything would help. Thank you so much.

I use advantage for fleas and ticks. My dog has only had one tick in his life, and it was dead on the spot! It's totally worth the money :)

We use Sentinel, which combines the flea and tick medicine with the heartworm medicine in one pill. We have never had a problem with this dog in 9 years, or two previous dogs who lived 12-13 years each.

Frontline doesn't work nearly as well as Advantage. Upon my vet's recommendation we switched. No more problems! Good luck!

We always used Seven Dust (like for your garden) & just powdered the dogs w/it. Works real good & it's not harmful for the dogs. Good luck!

7 dust your yard and keep up with it. You will start to see a difference soon. Also if your dog has access to a wooded area, try to cut access to the woods off from your dog.

My dogs also developed a TERRIBLE tick problem while on the Frontline product our vet had sold us, so out of desperation, I switched back to the Advantage, and then the ticks went away. I have used Advantage for at least 15-20 years on my dogs and have never had a tick problem since. My dogs stay outside when we are not home, but when they came inside, the ticks were also getting on my child. I even got mad at the vet for selling me the Frontline. I recommend using Advantage.

Hi K.-
We are having the same problem with our dogs--even with our horses! Even if your dog is an inside dog, when he goes outside to potty he can pick up ticks off of the grass and weeds. We, too, used Frontline for years and beginning last year it seemed to have lost it's efficacy. This summer we switched to Promeris and it has worked great, but it does have a higher incidence of side effects than some of the other products available. The ticks were so bad here, we just felt it was worth it. There are several other topical products available to combat ticks. I hear good things about Advantix and Comfortis, too. I hope that helps! My dog had this problem last month. I use Hartz drops monthly hoping to avoid the problem. Once he got them, I bought the Hartz Spray for ticks at HEB and sprayed the ticks. That did the trick, though it took a while. She is now tick free. I switched to the Hartz for ticks and their Eggs. I also bought a spray for the yard (and house) and I would spray down the grass after I mowed it.
