Hi moms well due date is right around the corner and I cannot bring myself to do anything after I get off work everyday. We have a 17mth old son and me and my hubby both work the same job but usually be the time we get off work get the baby from daycare and get home we are both so dang worn out we don't wanna get off the couch lol. We are having another boy and all my first born clothes are packed up in the closest I haven't even washed em in a yr and hung them up for the new baby. I swear if he's born early he won't have clothes to wear lol. I still need to buy a new bassinet also bc I gave the last one away. So moms how did you bring yourself to actually get prepared for new baby and have the energy to do it? O btw we both work in the mall and this time of the year drains us so much. I did take off a day last week but ended up sleeping most of it and watching tv lol I promise I'm not a lazy person but a day away from work and my toddler I couldn't help myself. Any advice would be great

Thanks
K. in Texas

Relax! You will do what you need to do! It sounds like you need to rest and relax and sleep when you get a day off, lol! Totally okay. I had a pretty strong nesting instinct towards the end but really you know the clothes were clean when you packed them away so is it that big of a deal? I wasn't working outside of the home when I had my second and third but the baby won't have a clue you didn't have them washed and hung up for him...honestly he probably would prefer to be naked for a while and ease into clothes anyway!

By this time, I totally pulled the pregnancy card and had my husband do it all. He gladly did!

That's not lazy, that's taking care of yourself!!!

Sleep. Don't do anything. (Well, take care of your toddler, eat, pee, etc.!)

Really... all you need "ready" are your breasts (or formula and bottles) and a car seat. Worst case scenario, a dresser drawer works as a crib/cradle.

Everything else is icing on the cake. Stuff to make life EASIER. If it's making life harder... then WAIT :) :) :)

my boys will be 14 months apart when this one arrives. I've washed the clothes, the bedroom on the other hand is full of boxes and other items I decided to store there. I'll get to it, sooner or later, probably about the time I have my first contraction and flip out because nothing is done, lol. And I don't work, but having a 1 year old, 1 in middle school, 1 in 3rd and 1 that is homeschooled, i'm running like a crazy lady all day and just beat. We don't have another crib yet, obviously I'm gonna need two, but I figure, worse case scenario, grandma can come set everything up while I sleep in the hospital. (and my first two boys were 17 months apart and it was the BEST, so don't worry to much there)

Sounds about right to me! Hopefully you'll nest and get energy with that. Other than that, it truly might be easier to wait until after the baby is born for some of those things. And if you put the clothes away clean, he'll be just fine wearing them right out of storage - I promise.

EEEK! My boys are 18 months apart so this speaks to my heart! Better rest up. As a side note, spend some special cuddle time with your 17 mth. old. His baby status got ripped from him early so maybe nap with him and do anything you can to make him feel extra special. He'll probably have a hard time adjusting. Mine did! Merry Christmas!!

There's a reason you can't bring yourself to do anything. You need the rest to be ready for labor and delivery. You want to start that process rested.

Clothes and a bassinet can be taken care of after the baby gets here.

Or perhaps you have a friend or relative who would wash the clothes. You don't need very many. I do agree that since they were clean when packed away you can use them that way.
