You are not crazy, I have already started to buy. Our big present to our kids is the new V-tech V-Motion video game. Its the child's version the Nintendo's Wii. They have a wonder pets game, Dora, etc. Very age apppropriate games. I figure in the winter you are inside alot and I think we will enjoy playing as much as they do.

Two great ideas that other moms posted - the yearly American Girl Doll/downtown visit, which begins with the American Girl doll purchase. There is a nice lego store on Michigan Avenue (for your son). Easy train ride downtown from your location. That new v tech motion game looks very cool. I've seen the commercial for it and it looks fun! The Christmas talks begin in my family in September too!

What about starting your little girl with the American Girl Dolls. You can even turn it into a tradition by going downtown to the store each year with her.

I like getting my kids in park district classes as part of their Christmas presents because they can enjoy them for a few weeks and they don't clutter my house!

Last year we bought our 4yr old the Vtech Vsmile. It's an educational hand held "video game". It can be used by itself or it can hook up to the tv. It also has a headphone jack so she can put on the headphones, like when we're in the car. It's great! She loves it and it occupies her on long car rides too, teaching her at the same time. Her two favorite games are the Dora the Explorer & the Disney/Pixar Cars game.
