Things to Do in NYC with a 5 Year Old (Reposted from a Late Nite Post :)

We'll be visiting NYC next week for 3 full days (plus 1/2 day before we head back to TX). My hubby, son and I will be meeting up with my older sis and her son (he's 25). Older sis has already said she wants to babysit so hubby and I can do something together. My brain is stuck as to things to do. Museum-wise, my son likes the hands on stuff. Weather could be an issue.

Anyone have any ideas on how we can spend our time? Hubby's thinking Top of the Rock, Statue of Liberty, Central Park (carriage ride, carousel, etc.). Any festivals between Feb 9th-11th?

Do I need to bring a stroller?

Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

My daughter and I went to NY for a mom/daughter adventure when she was about 11-12 and LOVED it.

We stayed at the Waldorf... at least walk through it, it is amazing!
We bought tickets for the double decker bus at our conceirge and we used the double decker buses as our mode of transportation if we couldn't walk somewhere. We are quite the walkers as well.

LOVED the bus and going to Little Italy, Chinatown, Wall Street, Ground Zero, Battery Park, rode the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, Loved Times Square shopping and she loved the Toys r Us store because it is huge and fun. We had dinner at local spots, Tavern on the Green (no longer there), carriage ride through Central Park and saw the Lion King on Broadway.

We flew from DFW, when we were looking for a taxi, there was a group of women who had a limo and offered for us to ride in with them and we did, what a treat! We just took a cab back to the airport when needed.

We did not do Empire State Building because we don't like the high rises. We had a very memorable visit and we are looking forward to another mom/daughter adventure!

For sure take a stroller. We moved from there 5 years ago and just went back to visit with our now 5 yr old this past summer. We did the double decker bus tour. It takes you all over the city with stops everywhere and you can get one of the next buses that run all day! You can do the uptown, downtown or both. We did uptown stops are Battery Park, Empire St Building, the Village, Chinatown, Soho.....etc! Check out the website.
