The Perfect Double Stroller for Jogs and Outings

I have a two-year-old and a two-month baby. I am ready to start jogging again and am looking at different strollers trying to figure out which one will work best for my needs. I live in an apartment and don't have a lot of space, so I am hoping to find a stroller that I can use for both exercise and easily fit in the car for outings like the zoo. What are some things that I should be looking for in a stroller or do you know of the perfect stroller for me?

What can I do next?

For a jogging stroller, I think the BOB is best. It comes in a double as well. It is large, but folds down nicely for transport and storage.

We have really liked our BOB stroller. It has a swivel wheel which makes it really easy to maneuver, though that can be locked into place if you prefer for jogging. I know they make a double BOB as well. The rain cover has been useful too, though it's a little hard to store. They're not cheap but it's been worth every penny. It's really easy to fold up and fits in the back of the car no problem- we have an Oddysey so you'd have to try it in your car. We just wish it had an attachment so our new baby could ride in the seat and our 3 year old could stand behind. Darn!

Not having twins, I can't recommend the best one, but I know where you might find a used one at a great price: Pass It On is this weekend! It is a twice-yearly consignment sale for kids (pregnancy-preteen) and is huge! We have our second day of drop off today, and I've already seen a few great double strollers. I can't recall of any of them are jogging strollers, but who knows what will come in today! The sale is Fri-Sun, opening at 9am. Go to the website for more details and directions to the Hillsboro Armory. www.passitonsales.com Good luck!

I have a kelty double jogger. It works really good. The handles are slightly slanted for more of an ergonomic grasp. I was jogging about 4 days a week (about 2 1/2 to 3 miles at a time). The front wheel is stable so you can run with one hand. I started using it last year when my daughter was 4 months and my boy was 2 1/2. It worked great for helping me lose the baby weight. Double joggers do take up lots of space though...Best wishes to you!!

I just got the Phil and Ted's Sport with the toddler seat attachment. I don't know about jogging with it (I'm not sure is the front wheel locks or not, but the website would say), but walks would be easy. It has air filled tires, so it will work well inplaces with no side walks. It stacks, so it isn't any widert than a regular stroller. I got it thinking that eventually I will go back to a single stroller as my older child will not want to be in it forever! Good luck, there are so many out there and they can get spendy!

Phil and Teds Clasic Stroller, or the Valco Tri Mode stroller, Stack rather than do the side by side thing. I've never used either, but they look a lot easier to store and move than other joggers.

I would look for one with a swiveling front wheel. It makes them so manuverable (sp?). Jeep makes one but I don't know if they have one that's a double. I would look on craigslist I see doubles on there relatively frequently.

I have a Bob Revolution single stroller and it is amazing! I have not used it to jog yet, my son is only 5 months. If you get the dualie and the infant seat adaptor you can easily take both kids once your little one is old enough to jog. I think they recommend that they be at least 6 months old. The Bob is expensive, but worth every penny. It turns on a dime and easily fits thru narrow spaces at the mall etc. It also folds very easily and gets pretty small for a jogger. The single fits easily in my very small Honda Civic trunk and the wheels come off if necessary in about 5 seconds.

Check out the BOB Revolution Stroller. It's by far the best out there. The front wheel can lock into place for running or rotates for strolling. It's expensive, but you'll be able to get most of your $ back if you sell it on Craigslist or eBay when you're done with it. REI customers give it the highest rating of anything they sell. Here's a link. Inside scoop - it'll be on sale during their Anniversary Sale in early May. They also have a Duallie model. http://www.rei.com/product/750868

Just like everyone else is saying, go for the double BOB Revolution with the swiveling front wheel. We have the single BOB right now but I see moms with two kids in the double BOB a lot. We LOVE our BOB stroller. The accessories are cool too like the rain shield/ warm and fuzzy seat cover, infant car seat adaptor, etc. Check it out at REI. If you are into biking/cross country skiing/snowshoeing Chariot makes a double stroller/bike trailer/trailer on skis that REI carries as well. My daughter's cousin has this and it's really fun for the kiddos in the snow but if you are just looking for a really good jogging/everyday stroller get the BOB.

A BOB revelution is the way to go. They are very pricey (about $500) however, it is a great product. It folds up small (as small as a stroller like that can get) and all the wheels are a quick release wheel. You can get them from REI in Spokane or on-line. We saw one the first time on vacation in Seaside after the wheels fell off the double stroller we already had. Even though you spend alot of money from the get go I was told you can sell them for a good percentage of what you paid for it on craig's list when your done with it. Another thing I like about it is they have a cover to protect against weather so i can go out on windy not so warm day and cover the kids up with a blanket to keep them warm and they are fine which allows me to get excercise in the spring. If you don't want to go that route you could always try a bicycle trailer as well. I don't know about that with the two month old though. Another thing with the BOB is it has shocks so it's easy on your little ones you don't want to jiggle around. Anyhow, if you can I would say the BOB is the way to go. It's the only double jogger we found that would fit through doorways.
