The Diaper Can't Make It Through the Night!

Hi Moms!

My adorable 7-mont-old baby boy is sleeping through the night - YEAH!

His diaper, however, is not making it through the night - BOO!

Every morning, he has leaked out of his diaper and onto his onesie and clear through to his sleep sack.

He is currently wearing size 1 diapers. We are not too far away from a size 2 (I would think in the next month or less). So I tried putting him in a size 2 for nighttime. Well, even though it fits well, he is still leaking!

It's so great that he is sleeping through the night... I just wish his diaper could hold up to the test!

Any ideas?

THANKS!

Paula,
My son is 4.5 months old and he is a big guy! He wears size 3 huggies and I like them the best! We got them at the hospital and I have tried others, only Huggies seem to make it through the night, I get the Gentle Care Huggies and they do great for him. If you sign up online for coupons, they send you a bunch throughout the year.
Good luck!

Paula,

We had that problem with out son when I tried Luvs. I know they are less expensive and supposed to be just as good - but they leaked like crazy for us. I used Huggies and they were fabulous.

My son was 9lbs 1oz when he was born and grew quickly as well. It was hard to keep up with him! Since every child is different, I think different brands work and fit differently for everyone.

All you can do is buy a small pack and try - then you'll know!

Good luck!

Hi Paula,
I am not sure which diapers you are using or have used, but here are my suggestions. I really like Cruisers from Pampers, but they get expensive. I recently tried the brand from BabiesRUs, and they are great, especially for the price. They are similar to Pampers Dry Baby, but ten dollars cheaper. No matter which one you choose, I would probably move up to the next level. Best wishes.

My son had the same problem. We tried a variety of different diapers and the only ones I found to work were Huggies Overnites.
We are not a huggies family either, but they work great. I have only seen them in size 4 and 5 in the stores. My son was in size 2 moving into a 3 when I tried the size 4. They were big, but he did not leak through. You may want to try the huggies website and see if they make smaller ones.
Good luck!

Two thoughts, try a different brand. Brands we have liked are White Cloud and Pampers and Luvs. Also, you could try Pods. You can get them online places like www.pottytrainingsolutions.com . They can go inside the diaper to increase absorbency. It's probably cheaper to go with a more expensive diaper, though. Sometimes going up another size for nights does the trick, as well. We've always switched sides before the weight changes. Right now we have a little guy wearing 3 in the day and 4 at night. It's working well even though he still weighs less than the 3 says it fits. GL! Diapers are such fun!

Hi,
Is your DS small for his age? I remember my son was almost out of size 2 at 7 months, and he was 25% for weight.
You may even need to try size 3. At that time, I had found Pampers Swaddlers / Cruisers worked best for us at night because they fit better at the waist. I was finding that I was moving to the next diaper size at the minimum weight for the new size, instead of moving out of the smaller size at the maximum weight recommended.

Huggies makes nightime diapers and they are great! I think that they cost a little bit more, but they are worth it. They definitely hold more to help get the baby through the night without leaking. Thanks!

It could be the brand... I found Huggies leaked and luvs, we switched to pampers, and they seem to keep moisture in the best.

We had the same problem with our son. I know everyone has their own preference, but for us, the Costco diapers worked wonders. A friend recommended them. I don't know if you have a membership or not, but they were great. They're less expensive, and they were more absorbent than even the different "night time" diapers we tried. Good luck!
