Thank you to all veterans that may be in this site or in your family.

If you are a veteran, are related to one or are married to one, please tell them thank you from me personally.

I do appreciate them and their service.

I am going to go to a ceremony here in town later today but is there anything else I can do?

What can I do next?

My Dad, who was a veteran, insisted this be read at his Memorial when he passed. The author is unknown:

It is the VETERAN, not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the VETERAN, not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the VETERAN, not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.
It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the VETERAN, not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.
It is the VETERAN,
who salutes the Flag,
It is the VETERAN, who serves under the Flag.

Thank you Micky. It means a lot to me as the spouse to know that the veterans are not forgotten. My husband served in South East Asia (Desert Shield/Storm) and South West Asia (Vietnam/Thailand) during his 23 years. I did 20 of those as the spouse moving around and caring for the family.

My hat is off to the veterans, active duty and spouses around the world.

In Canada today is Remembrance Day. My kids each had ceremonies at school on Friday. We had a special service at church yesterday. We just got home from a service and parade this morning. We observed a moment of silence at 11:00am. We will be having a family dinner tonight. We wear poppies on our clothes and donate to the legion.

What a nice post.

My step Father is 79 and he spent many many years in the military and at war. He was a pilot.

My brother drove a tank for one of the first groups in for Operation Desert Storm.

I know they are attending a service in their hometown in AL today.

Thank you for thinking of all of the service men and women who protect us.

Thank you, Micky, for reminding us.

Thanks, Patty, I love that poem. It's read in my church just about every vetern's day.
