Thank You Gift for Shower Hostesses?
Two friends of mine are throwing a baby shower for me this weekend. I'd like to give them a little something as a thank you, but I was wondering if that was appropriate? Or should I just stick to a thank you card? What do people normally do?

I think that a plant or flowers would be a nice thank you gift.

I think you should bring a simple gift to the shower, AND send a thank you note afterwards. Have fun at your shower!

When I helped host a shower a few years back the mama-to-be gave all of the hostesses a necklace. She had a friend that made custom jewelry and she picked different pieces for each of us that she thought matched our tastes. So, she ended up helping out that friend, and treating us! And I think of her each time I reach to put on that necklace. :)

A heartfelt, hand written note is always appropriate. Just a thought--how about a gift with a "shower-y" theme---decadent shower gel, loofah and a mani-pedi gift certficate?

I gave the women who hosted my shower a nice candle from a boutique around the corner.

I don't know what people normally do. I always like to give a hostess gift. If I know what the person likes I try to relate the gift to their interest. For example, if they like wine I might bring a bottle of wine. If they're readers I might bring a book that they've mentioned wanting to read. But usually I just bring a bouquet of flowers. I buy vases for cheap at Goodwill and arrange flowers from Fred Meyer or Safeway. I started using vases after I took a bouquet that the hostess stuck in a vase and left out for all to see. It was so ugly I wanted to take it back.
