Temperature - Norman,OK

At what temperature do you bring a 4 year old to the ER?

What can I do next?

By 103 I would bring him in if you aren't able to get him to take tylenol and keep it down. A luke warm bath is a good way to brng down his body temp. As the water evaporates off of his skin it will bring his core temp down. Don't put him in cool water because he may start to shiver which will raise his body temp. Also, undress him and don't wrap him in blankets, either.

Some kids just run high fevers. It's not the fever that you need to worry about, but how your child is acting. If he/she is incredibly logy or if motrin isn't helping, then I would call the pediatrician.

I'd say anything over 103 degrees, or under that if accompanied by other things I'd be worried about. But call your doctor before that point if you're concerned!

I say 103, if you can't get it to come down. Use Ibuprofen and a tempid warm bath (not too cold, or it could increase fever).

It's not the degree it's how they are they are acting , up until 104.
If they are lethargic , won't drink, or have excessive vomiting or diarrhea then yes they need to go to the ER.

Call the pediatrican first and see what they say.

Or if the fever has spiked to over 103-104 and hasn't gone down within 45 minutes of taking the right dose of ibuprofen.

Good luck.

Call the ER, they can tell you when to worry.

It is not so much the temperature that I worry about its more how they are acting unless it goes over 104 and won't come down
