Teething Solutions

My 17 month old has taken a long time to cut teeth. She has two front bottom and 3 front top. She has just now started to cut molars and it seems that at lease 4 are trying to come in at once. Her gums are swollen and she cries and whines almost non-stop. I feel terrible giving her tylenol 3 times a day, does anyone know of any "home remedies" to help soothe teething toddlers other than a cold teething ring/or towel and pain meds?

What can I do next?

I gave my son, whose teeth also came in in mulitples, all fruit popsicles to suck on. It numbed his mouth and provided some relief and occupied him for a while. I also found that keeping him busy and occupied helped. I guess just like adults if they aren't thinking about it, its not as bad.

I found for us with our little one that hylands teething tablets worked great!! I never had a baby before who was so affected by teething, I got ours at KMart

I would go to a the Natural Food Patch in Ferndale on West 9 Mile Rd. Or something similar to that. They are bound to have all natural teething remedies there.

We used a teething feeder- it's basically a net that you put food in with a handle to hold. We would freeze fruit and then give it to my daughter to chew on. I liked it because most of the time it was enough to numb and give some relief and we didn't have to give her tylenol constantly. Plus we didn't have to worry she would choke on something. Cantelope worked best for us- it was the least messy. Just be sure you cut it into pieces that will fit into the opening before you freeze- it's a pain to try to cut frozen melon with an unhappy kid.
I've found these at target and meijer, not sure of the brand- maybe sassy?
Good Luck.

try giving her frozen waffles to chew on, they worked wonders for my daughter when her molars started cominging!

I used the teething tablets too..They do work wonderful.A couple times I did give motrin because motrin is an anti-inflammatory and will reduce the swelling.Once the swelling was down the teething tablets worked even better.

Hyland's Teething Gel. Hands down my savour!! Taste like water and withing 15 minutes they are calm again. Tylenol did not get rid of the inflammation so I used Motrin Concentrated drops. Worked like a charm and always had at least 10 if not more teethers in the refridgerator at all times. Good luck. I'm going through the same at the moment with my 10 month old.

All Natural teething pellets..
They are great! They are soothing. Walmart and any pharmacy sells them Ask the Pharmacist !

Good luck
