Teething Late

I spoke to my mom about this as when I was a child I didn't get my teeth until quite late. My mom said she spoke to dentists and doctors but was happy to hear it was perfectly normal. I didn't loose my first tooth until much later than all the other children in elementary school. I have had very few cavities since childhood and have straight, white and healthy teeth/gums. I think your son has lucked out with the dental genes he has received. Good luck!

Most of my kids seem to get teeth that would cut half way or almost half way and then just stop then a little while later they would finish coming in. The good news is that when they did finish coming in they never seemed to be as bad as when they were teething with a new tooth, some it was just like wow that tooth is bigger now, no fussy baby or anything that week.

My daughter (who is now 11) didn't have teeth until she was 14 months old...and she got her molars first! The rest of her teeth came in all at once by the time she hit 18 months. The dentist said that was a "good thing" as her teeth appear to be healthy...and she'll get her permenent teeth later (hopefully less opportunity for cavities).

Has he been to the dentist yet? One of the benefits of military life overseas for us in Europe is free dental care!!! They suggest the first visit at about a year and then the cleanings start at about 2 year old..so this is a perfect time!!

I had the exact opposite problem with my daughter. She started teething at 2 months and had 4 teeth by the end of 3 months. However, they did not come in "order". First it was 4 on top and then two on the bottom sides...it was weird because I never knew which tooth was bothering her! She had all her teeth my 14 months.
My mom said that I did not start teething until at least 9 months and only had a few teeth until after I was a year old. So I think this is normal. All children develop differently and at different paces. However, as time goes on and you still feel unsure then contact your dentist. They can give you a good answer. Hope this helps.
