We used Hyland's teething gel or tablets - you just rub the gel on the gums or place the tablet in his mouth and it numbs the area a little so hopefully he can sleep. All the pressure on his gums gets worse when he lays down. Teething can be a painful thing for babies AND parents! You can find these types of gels in any drug store in the baby section. Good luck!

Hyland's teething tablets work very well, have used with both my kids (3.5 & 29 months) and recommend them to everyone (can get at CVS, Shaws, etc in the baby section). At night, I have found that combining the teething tablets with infant tylenol works wonders. When your baby is old enough you can use baby motrin that lasts up to 8 hours (baby needs to be at least 6 months old....or when your pediatrician says its ok). I didn't have any luck with the orajel. Best of luck to you, teething is awful!

Take him to bed with you if you don't already. If you're sure it's teething, you could try a half dose of Tylenol perhaps to help ease the gum irritations...but I'd go the co-sleeping route first. He most likely wants to be close to mommy if he doesn't feel well due to his teeth.

Good luck :)

Hi T.,

When the teething pain is not too bad, I give my daughter Boiron's Camilla liquid (which you can find at Whole Foods), but usually if she is woken up by the pain or discomfort, I give her tylenol.

Thankfully, it is a temporary interruption of sleep. Your son will go back to sleeping through the night once his teeth have broken through.

The top front teeth are the hardest on them, I believe, but don't worry--it will pass and he'll be back to his routine.

Good luck!
