Teething Advice? - Manomet,MA

My LO is miserable! Her bottom 2 teeth are coming in. I took her to the dr. to make sure nothing else was wrong as she is sooooo fussy! She cannot sleep or eat well. She keeps chewing on her hands, pulling at her head and face. She cries a lot and constantly needs to be held and rocked.
I am giving her tylenol, but any other thoughts on how to make her more comfortable? I have tried some various teethers and they do not work too great for her right now - she is only 4.5 mos old so is not very proficient at being able to use them.
My first DD had no issues with teething whatsoever - so I am at a loss here at what to do.
Any tips or tricks?
Thanks Mama's!

I would stay away from Tylenol. It can create problems with the body's ability to make glutathione as mentioned here http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2005/0...

There are a few really good homepathic remedies I used with my son when he was teething. Look for something from Hylands or just visit a local health food store.

My son was "the worst teether" the pediatrician had every seen. I would be sure that you are using DYE FREE tylenol for your baby. Also, Camille teething drops are much better than tablets in my opinion. They are at whole foods. Also "my safe feeder" mesh bags, with a frozen banana was often the only thing that would sooth my son and he would fall asleep in the highchair after sucking on one. HTH

I alsp used the teething tablets. My daughter would never take a teething ring till she was about 4.5/5 months old. And she would only take the vibrating ones. Have u tried the vibrating teething rings. They are awesome the babies can naw on them as hard as they want and when they do it vibrates against their gums. I would try one of these and definately the teething tablets.

I now have a 3 month old son and he has just started teething so I will be at the store buying both of these products again.

I would freeze washcloths into shapes (long for back teeth, square are easy to hold). This worked great! Orajel was a last resort, but sometimes necessary. Good luck!

Try Hyland's Teething Tablets....

Sometimes it seems as if teething goes on forever, and it can be grim for both mother and baby. Hyland's Teething Tablets have made it easier for mother and baby for years. This homeopathic combination of natural substances relieves the restlessness, peevish whining and irritability. The small 1 grain tablets melt instantly on the tongue. Indications for Use: homeopathic combination for the temporary relief of symptoms of simple restlessness and wakeful irritability due to cutting teeth.

I never heard of these until I had my youngest and someone at work mentioned these when I was complaining about her teething.

I really think they worked. They disolve right in the mouth in a matter of seconds. You can buy them on-line or at a drug store for about $3.

Good Luck!

Try giving her a frozen washcloth to chew on, this helped with my kids as the traditional teethers didnt fit my kid's mouths. I also used Highlands teething tablets.
Good luck.

My favorite is to make a strong chamomile tea. Soak washclothes in the tea (maybe cut them up into 3-4 pieces for your small fry) and then freeze them separately in freezer bags. Give them to her to chew on. The chamomile will calm and soothe both her and her gums.

I agree w/ the Sarg. down there: Tylenol=bad news.
Unfortunately, the wonderful little tablets that Hylands makes have been pulled off the market right now. Long story, but the reason was stupid.
In short, the FDA does not like homeopathic remedies.

That being said I believe there is a company called Humphries that makes a similar teething tablet that is available.

There is also baltic amber: http://hyenacart.com/stores/inspiredbyfinn/index.php?c=63...

It sounds totally hokey, right? But you know what-it works. It is simply a necklace that baby/toddler wears and when it warms against their skin it releases succinc acid, which is a pain reliever.

My DS has been wearing his since Dec.. He rarely messes w/ it and at night you can move it to her ankle.

Hope you find relief! Best wishes!

I'm not sure if you've started introducing her to solids, but we used a fresh food feeder with a chunk of cold fruit in it. The cold helped numb it and he would gnaw on the mesh to make it feel better.

there is a great homeopathic remedy called teething tablets that worked great for my kids. I believe even Walmart carries them. I can't remember the company that puts them out, but they should be easy enough to find. they are small tablets that dissolve in the babies mouth. usually the will fall asleep soon after taking them because the pain is relieved (and they feel so much better!) good luck!

Highland's Teething Tablets.
Also, I found frozen washcloths to be too bulky, so I cut scrap t-shirts (clean of course!) into small strips and tied knots in them. I then wet them and put them in the freezer. They were smaller and thinner than a washcloth.
