Both my babies drooled a ton for at least a couple of weeks before their teeth broke through. They both started teething with the bottom front two teeth almost simultaneously at 4 months old.

Yes, it could be teeth. However, if your newborn has been doing this for half his life, I think he could just be a drooler. Some kids drool more (or a lot more) than others. Stick your hand in and feel his gums for bumps or soreness, but if there isn't any, it's okay. Just keep a burp cloth near you at all times.

Sounds like it could be . . . my daughter had her first tooth at 3 months.

My first-born began "teething" at 2 months and the first tooth emerged at 4 months. It is very possible your infant is going through the motions of teething.

My son started the same thing at 2months and the ped said he wasn't teething. Every person I ran into that had a child said he was for sure teething. I thought so. He drooled and sucked on his hand. his first two teeth came in at 4 months. I started w/teething tablets when he was about 4 months old. I tried giving him a teething ring (the flat kind/not the big puffy kind). It helped a little but he wasn't really a fan of teething rings. All babies are different. When he was a little older, I tried dipping a corner of a burp cloth in cold water and letting him suck on it. That seemed to provide relief at an early age. Later on I gave him the teething tablets then Infant tylenol. I reserved the infant Motrin for the molars and/or really painful teeth.

My teething test is to stick in my knuckle and see if they chomp or suck. I have a friend whose daughter had a tooth at 3 months, so it isn't unheard of. My son had his first on his 6 month birthday. My daughter is 3.5 months and has an adjacent bottom tooth (not a front one) coming out the front - to each their own.

Probably too early for teeth. They usually do not surface until 6 months and older. My son (8 months) and daughter (4 years) both spit up A LOT and slobbered A LOT since birth. His two bottom teeth did not come out until this last month and my daughter was around 9 months when hers came in.
