Teething - Milwaukee, WI

my 5 and a half month old sons are having periods of fussing. They both are chewing on everything they can get a hold of, and the fussing seems related to this. Could they be teething? Please give me some "all natural" ideas to ease the pain! C.

What can I do next?

Yep, they could be teething. It can be wet but what I always did was wet a wash cloth and put it in the freezer. Then, I gave it to my youngest and let him chew away. I put a bib on him to keep his shirt dry. It works because it numbs the gums. Happy Holidays!!! Good Luck!!!

the best thing that worked for my daughter was a damp washcloth that I placed in a plastic baggie and then put in the freezer. After a little while when the washcloth was cold enough I took it out of the baggie and I gave it to my daughter and she went to town! I also tried frozen carrots or green beans (with supervision of course) or a chilled teething ring for her to chew on. I have also heard of moms trying frozen ice pops. Just put some juice in an ice cube tray with toothpicks and wait till frozen. Kids really enjoy this one. My daughter was only 3 months old when she started cutting teeth so I wasnt comfortable doing this with her. See what works best for you!

I don't know how natural this is, but when my daughters were teething i would give them frozen waffles to chew on and when they got thawed and mushy i would take them away for obvious reasons. Another thing that worked well for my girls was folding washcloths to resemble hotdogs, get them wet and freeze them. There is less of a choking hazard that way. Hope I was of some help!

My girls both started teething at four months, so that could definitely be it. Try Hylands homeopathic teething tablets. You should be able to find them at Walgreens or Target. They are safe, and you can give them a couple of times a day. The tablets disolve in their mouths.
Hope that helps!

All 3 of my kids responded very well to a homepathic remedy called Hyland's teething tablets. You should be able to find them at Whole Foods and Walgreens, although many other places carry them as well.

I used Hazel's Soothie pacifiers and filled up the hole with water and froze them. Then she'd just num on them. When the ice fell out, it would just melt. She still likes it occasionally to chew on, even though she's not teething any more.

I recommend teething tablets. They worked so well for us! It even says on the label that it is an all natural remedy that disolves instantly on baby's tongue (so no fear of choking) and not to be surprised if baby falls asleep. It explains that baby won't fall asleep because of the teething tablet, but because they have finally been able to relax and get comfy once the pain has gone away. They don't always go to sleep, but they do stop fussing and look happier. You can get them at CVS pharmacy and Wal-Mart for sure. Good luck- because it does sound as if your sons are teething.

there are some Hylands teething tablets (you can buy them from Walmart in the vitamin section for about 6.00 (well worth the money)). They disolve instantly and are natural (homeopathic, 100% natural, no side effects, soft tablets dissolve instantly) I have used these with my 3 kids and I would not go without them. They numb the baby's gums for a couple of hours. What a life saver.
