Teething - Philadelphia, PA

My son is almost ten months old and has not one single tooth. I'm not too worried. did anyone else have a late "teether"? He eats everything in sight like he has a mouth full of teeth and he still nurses so I'm thankful on that part.
Thanks
Shant'e

What can I do next?

My daughter was 11 1/2 mo. before she got her first tooth. When I asked the doctor about it he told me that to only be concerned that if she hit 1 yr. with no teeth. Some kids are just late when it comes to teeth

Hey Shant'e
I've got you beat my 10 month old has no teeth!! There are plenty of toothless kids out there. I have heard the longer they wait to come in the stronger they will be... but also more painful coming in.Good luck

I have 2 daughters that both where 19 months old before the first tooth. At 12 months i took my oldest to the pediatric dentist. they where in the gums just did not push thru like most babies. nothing to worry about. my oldest finally lost her first tooth right before her 7th birthday. Hopefully that means healthy for life!

Hi! My daughter made it all the way until 10 months without any teeth either and then both of her bottom middle teeth came in at the same time. She is 11 1/2 months now and hasn't had any more surface yet. So hang in there, they will pop up soon.
PS- I asked my doctor about it and she said the lastest she has ever seen any baby get their first teeth was 18 months! But that is pretty rare.

i have a daughter, she was 2 in may and she has 7 teeth. that's it. 7. haha! so, i wouldn't worry too much! she see's the pediatrician regularly and they say not to worry...i'm not looking forward to the day they all come in at once though, that's for sure!

take care,
S.

My daughter was also a late teether. She got her first bottom tooth toward the end of 10 months. She's now 14 months and only has the two bottom teeth and the two top teeth. The top ones still aren't all the way down yet.

You're not alone!

My daughter didn't get her 1st tooth till she was 10.5 mos old (it was actually her birthday gift to me!).

They say that the later a child gets their first tooth, the better. Not only are they usually better at dealing with the discomfort but the teeth are healthier, as a rule.

Beware though that when he finally sprouts one that he may be getting a bunch at one time or one right after the other. That happened w/ both my kids a bit--especially my daughter.

Also, you know that you'll be able to nurse without problem once he does have teeth, right? If you need more info on it, you can look it up on www.KellyMom.com

My daughter turned 10 months old on the 20th and she didn't have any teeth either. She was also really good at gumming her food to death. But a few days later 2 teeth started to pop up. Also my cousins daughter didn't get any teeth until she was 13 months old. So hang in there, those teeth are coming!

Don't worry. My daughter was 12 1/2 months old before she got her first tooth, and that one came in on top instead of the usual bottom! That same week, she got two more teeth. So, don't worry, your son's teeth will come.
