Teething 11 Week Old - Long Beach,CA
My 11 week daughter started teething a couple of weeks ago. I've given her "Little Teethers" homeopathic tablets and my mom suggested Oragel, which I'm going to start giving her today. She's too little to hold a teether, but she's in such pain. I'm looking for other tools to comfort her.

So What Happened?™
Thanks ladies for your help. The dr. confirmed that my daughter is,in fact, teething by her swollen gums. I had 4 teeth by the age of 4 months so sadly she's taking after me in this instance. Thanks Melinda for advising me against Oragel. I haven't used it and have continued to allow her to suckle, massage her gums with my finger, and chew on a washcloth. I appreciate your help.

Hi L.,
When my daughter went through this I would fold one of her small washcloths and get the folded end wet and then put it in the freezer. After it froze she could chew on it and it was both cold and had some texture to rub on her gums. I only got the top half wet so the bottom part she was holding would stay dry for a while at least.
Good luck,
G.

Are you sure it's teething? It seems a little too early. Maybe, it's some other pain. You may want to check out other possiblities with her doctor.

L., she is too young to give oragel. I woud wait. Use your finger and put it on the S spot . This is where the hard palate meets the soft palate. Let her suckle. Also are you breast feeding? That will help. It sounds like you are into health a bit so I would stay away from anything she can swallow, like the gel, which has stuff in it an infant cannot handle in her intestinal tract quite yet. My first thought is, are you sure she is teething this early? Maybe it is something else - that is awfully early for teething. You can wet a facecloth with water, and put it in the freezer for an hour and let her suck on it.....if it is teething.

I'm with the other mom's who commented. All my girlfriends and I thought our babies were teething for months... we all said "oh I think she/he is teething" and it really wasn't until much later. We giggle about it now.
