Teething

We loved Hyland's Teething tablets - available Walgreens/Walmart and maybe CVS pharmacy. They are "homeopathic," but have done the trick with boy my boys - now three y/o and 9 month old.

Good luck. My 9 month old is up to eight teeth now, so I appreciate your pain... literally.

I was also going to suggest the teething tablets. We tried orajel, but the teething tablets worked so much better than orajel and like the previous mother said, you can give the them as often as the baby is hurting. Good luck!

wow, girl you are a trooper. my pediatrician suggested Benadryl for traveling, so why not try it as a temporary help with teething? also, you might check a health food store (Healthy Approach in Grapevine on 121 is great) to see what their ideas are from a natural perspective.

I have never had one teeth that bad. Take him to the doctor if you can to make sure it is not his ears. My baby girl would only eat frozen waffles, like Eggo's. She still eats them frozen to this day. Vitamin World has sleeping drops for babies if you dont object to medicating them.

I can honestly sympathize with you on this. My granddaughter (whom I am raising) went through the same thing. I used baby ora gel, teething tablets, all to no avail. I was out of ora gel and only had Anebesol (I know it is for adults), but I used that and gave her some infant Motrin for the pain. It was a tremendous relief for her and me, plus it lasted a lot longer than the ora gel. Not sure if that will help you out or not, but it sure worked for me.

I went through this, too. My son actually had 3 molars come in at the same time. All you can do is make them comfortable. Many will say to use Motrin and Tylenol, and that works with most kids. The Hyland teething tablets were also helpful. They are an all-natural tablet that dissolves in the baby's mouth. The orajel may or may not work - we didn't have great luck with it with either of our children.

I hope this helps give you somewhere to go. It's a difficult spot to be in for both of you. Take care and try to get some sleep. It's okay to make exceptions and let your kiddo sleep with you if needed.

sorry I am so late getting back to this request, things are probably more under control now! There are teething tablets and I would always give my son Tylenol for the pain and to prevent a fever from occuring! I would also give him Mylecon because teeting and the pain can and does upset their tummies! Just a few ideas! Hope it works!

If you go to Kroger go to the formula baby food isle and there are some teeting tablets that work wonderfully. I forgot the name but its in a plastic bottle and it says teething tablets and in a pink and purple label. My son is 12 mths old and it was a life savor..

You didn't mention what you are doing for his teething to ease the pain. I would suggest alternating tylenol with advil. You give the tylenol, then two hours later give him advil, then three hours later give him tylenol again...and continue this process until he is better. You have to be careful about keeping close records on the time you give each dose. A dose of benedryl along with the pain reliever, every four hours, might help him relax enough to sleep, too. It's a rough time for everyone involved. You have to remember the Lord promises us that, "This, too, shall pass...."

I understand what you are going thru. My son began teething at 1 month old, the doctor couldn't believe it but she confirmed it. The best thing to use is BABY ORAJEL in the q-tip form. Its easy to use and easier to apply then the liquid form. It numbs his gums instantly making him feel better faster. My son is now 18 months old and working on his 2 year old molars and I don't live without the baby orajel and Infant Tylenol. Hope this helps.

I don't have any specific advice - I hope some others will give you something good to try - but I just want you to know that there WILL be an end to this. It's been years since we went through that, so I don't remember the best things to do! I just remember it was so frustrating to see our baby hurting and crying and we felt helpless at that time just like you! But things move so FAST with them and even though you are no doubt very tired and very frustrated right now, it WILL pass and your baby will be fine. I just wanted to write to say that we are all supporting you with our thoughts and prayers that this will be over with soon for you and your beautiful child. I hope you get some GREAT TIPS from moms that have more recently been through it!

Hello, We had a really tough time teething at our house too. Heve you tried Hylands Teething tablets. They are incredible and also homeopathic with no medicine. We did not go anywhere with out them. Just a thought. Hope things get better soon

Hang in there. It will get better. The same thing happened to our baby. He got all of his teeth at once and was so cranky. We just gave him tylenol and let him suck on frozen things. Whole frozen waffles, ect. There is a thing called a baby food strainer. You can buy it at Walmart in the baby dept. It is about 3.00. My son loved it. It looks like a little net with a handle. You can cut up frozen popsicles and put them in there. That way, you don't have to worry about choking. During this phase, don't worry about him sleeping in his crib, etc. Just do what you have to in order to get past this. It only lasts a little while and once the teeth cut the skin, he will be back to normal. Hang in there!!

Try Highlands Teething tablets (Walgreens or Whole Foods Market). Also, make sure there's no ear infection. It sometimes happens at the same time and has those exact symptoms.

I have used the teething tablets and they work miracles. They can be bought at Babies R Us or Toys R Us. I have not been able to find them anywhere else. Most of the bottles come with a teether and they are around $5.

I know it gets tough when teethinh begins..If you have a whole foods market close by ur place , you could try getting teething tablets from there..they are homeopathic .or could try the teething gel that the docs usually tells us abt ..which u cud get over the counter.The homeopathy wked fine for my kids..I have two boys 4 and 7 ..and thankfully that stage has now passed ..All the best to u 2..hope u get some sleep..

Teething is rough. Keep advil in him and he'll probably sleep better. Ask your pediatrician about the correct dose. Remember that this is just temporary! Also, ear infections have the same symptoms as teething, so the call to your doc's office might help there too.

My youngest went through this and there were ALOT of sleepless nights. Try Motrin or Tylenol. You can double them up like you do for fever. Tylenol and then 4 hours later Motrin, and so on. Oragel Night time works real well too. My son was so bad we ended up with a prescription for Paragoric syrup. You rub a little on the gums with a q-tip, but you have to just use a little, it constipates them. We only used it when he was in alot of pain and nothing else helped.

Hi M. - have you tried Orajel or Tylenol for babies? My little boy was the same way and it can be totally exhausting, but the Orajel and Tylenol seemed to ease him.

Have you tried teething tablets or even just tylenol? I know it is hard to medicate babies, but at some point you have to! Both of you will appreciate it!

My doctor told me to rub Benadryl on my baby's gums. I use the children's liquid benadryl.. it works like a charm. I was amazed!

Try Hyland's Teething Tablets. They are a small tablet that you hold inside the baby's mouth until it dissolves and that only takes a second or 2. It is safe and a wonderful relief for both of you! It worked wonders with my son! They are available at WalMart.

Bless your heart! I can't imagine having all those teeth come in at once. Oh my goodness and to be doing this all on your own. I do have some good news! Hyland teething tablets! You can get them at most grocery stores. Ask your pharmacy if you can't find them because they some times have them behind the counter or near the counter. They are all natural and truly are amazing and have helped with every tooth in our house.

I have a son who is two years old and he got most of his teeth within a short period of time. It can be rough. Anyhow, the only thing that ever worked for him was keeping him on pain reliever all of the time until the teeth broke through. I would ask your pediatrician what the maximum dose would be for your son.

My 10 mo. old twins both started teething at 3 mos. and have been really hard teethers (diarrhea, earaches, low grade fevers, etc. etc.). They have been MISERABLE. I tried the teething tablets, but they did no good on my babies. After I tried them both my pediatrician and my sister's pediatrician told us not to use them b/c of the specific homeopathic ingredients in them being potentially dangerous, so you may want to check with your baby's dr. before you use them.
What has worked the best for us is a combination of infant motrin (I buy generic - tons cheaper) and baby Orajel (they hate the taste, but oh, well!) and prescription ear drops from the dr. called A/B Otic drops. They have been the true miracle in the combination, I think. I guess when babies teethe they can get referred pain in their ears and this just numbs the inside of the ear. Their ears would especially hurt when I tried to lay them down so I took them to the dr. thinking they had ear infections, but it was teeth. Now when I put the ear drops in they just lay still and you can tell it helps immediately.
Anyway, it is miserable and I hope you find something to help all of your pain!

Try Hyland's teething tablets...they are great. Also, "1st years" has a wonderful teething ring that vibrates when your baby bites on it. It is about $6 and it is great. You can also rub Tylenol directly on the gums.

Have you tried Children's Tylenol? My 8-month old daughter is teething, too, and her doctor told me to give her a small dose (the lowest line on the dropper that comes with the Tylenol). Another thing (which I haven't tried yet) are those little mesh pacifier things where you can put a frozen piece of fruit inside and the baby can suck on it - the cold might bring your son some relief plus he'd get a little nutrition.

A friend of mine let me know this when my little guy began teeting: If you go to the pharmacy, you can order something called "Hurricaine". It's what the dentist uses to numb your gums before giving an injection. They don't carry it over the counter, but they can order it for you. It should cost around $11-12. It contains twice the amount of benzocaine than nighttime baby orajel does.

It just takes a small amount on your finger or q-tip to do the job!

My (now 20-month old) also got his teeth in big spurts. My suggestion- Infant Motrin. Works much better than infant tylenol for teething in my opinion. No point in both of you being miserable.

Dear stressed out mommy!! What worked for our baby was Feverall - an acetamenaphin (tylenol) in suppository form. They come in infant formula up to 3 yrs, and children's formula 3+ years. They are lifesavers for us as our baby will not take any meds orally. They are about $6/box and can be found at most pharmecies - sometimes by the other children's pain relief, sometimes from behind the counter.

you poor thing i know how hard that is to get no sleep and no help! my husband is wonderful but he had started a new stressful job when our 2nd daughter was a month old and my other daughter was 1yrs old i also have no family here so i hear your pain! use that baby ambesol and just give warm bottles of formula he'll still get nutrition that way and just wait. he'll start to feel better soon. when you're in the midst,it seems like forever. just remember this too shall pass. talk to your pediatrician too. it may sound silly to call them but if you're desparate do it! also give motrin i think it works better than the tylenol for infants of course.good luck and if you have any friends that can help just ask!! forget pride and you're lucky you can have your 15yr old help too! it's so important for family to help oneanother and praise your older child for helping! Try Hyland's homeopathic Teething Gel, available at any Whole Foods Market. If you are unfamiliar with homeopathy, it basically means no side effects whatsoever. You just squeeze some out and rub it all over his gums. It will take care of his pain for a while and hopefully allow him (and you) to get some decent sleep. My son cut his first 12 teeth four at a time too, and the only thing that helped was Orajel. It numbs the gums until the baby falls asleep. We tried the homeopathic teething tablets, Motrin and Tylenol, but they didn't seem to help him. He did like the taste of the teething tablets though... he thought it was some kind of candy, and got very excited when he saw the bottle. Another helpful thing was the babysafe feeder. I put pieces of fruit in it (apples, cantaloupe, pears)and he loved to chew on them. You can put them in the freezer too, but I just put them in the fridge for a while. Dampf wash cloths put in the freezer should help too, but my son didn't want to chew on them. Instead he constantly chewed on the edges of his stuffed animal head-blankie. I've had a hard time keeping it clean. We also had months of sleepless nights but after he started walking the teething didn't seem to bother him that much anymore. I guess he was so busy running around during the day that he didn't notice the pain so much anymore and would fall asleep right away in the evenings.
