Teeny Tiny ANTS

I know this question was asked before but I was wondering if anyone has suggestions for these bothersome ants.. They come into my house when it rains. I mop the floor every other day but that doesn't seem to stop them. My husband wants to spray outside around the house but I am afraid it will be harmful for the dog. Did anyone find a natural solution that REALLY worked?

What can I do next?

CORNMEAL!!!!!!

the ants take it back to share with the nest and then they fest... they can eat the cornmeal but not digest it so the die. Sounds terrible but it is super safe and works!!! :) good luck!

Ants follow trails. They have an established trail to your house. My apt's have a massive ant hill someplace under the stairs and I lived in the biggest ant hill for a couple years, California. The cornmeal is a good natural suggestion. I have heard about orange oil. They will not go over or through cinnamon. It can be the cheap dollar stuff too. You need to find where they are coming in and put it down to break the trail. They also can't chew through steel wool, so you can block holes with that too. I will spray bug spray around my windows and doors outside just so they can't reestablish their trails.

There are natural ways of controling ant infestations but I've not tried them. We have sprayed around the foundation of the house and it has helped. Our dog wasn't interesting in the spray. It's a very narrow line of chemical. We had it sprayed by a professional company that assured us it would not harm the dog and it didn't. He's 16 years old now. You could talk with an exterminating company, find out what is in the spray and if it has the potential of harming dog or child. I've seen advertising for an exterminating company that uses all natural ingredients.

If you're uncomfortable with the spray you can also purchse ant traps that have a stake which you pound into the ground next to the foundation. I purchase those at Fred Meyer.

I also use ant traps on my counters. I place them where I think the ants are entering or leaving the house. Those help alot.

I hate to have ants marching over my counters and on down to the floor. My grandmother used traps that look the same as the ones I use. This was 50 years ago.

I wish you success in the battle with the ants. They are really persistent. The way they march in a line reminds me an army. :)

I learned many years ago from a professional exterminator to use orange oil cleaning products in the home wherever you clean. I also add essential orange oil to my mop water, and even use dish soap with natural citrus in it. Sometimes I will take pure orange oil and line the baseboard and cupboards. Ants cannot walk over the orange, it burns their legs. It really works, I have been using it for years.

Eco-Care is great for pest control. They will come to your house and put out pet/kid-safe stuff that is also environmentally safe. Their number is ###-###-####. They charge about $179, but it's good for three months, so if you see any ants, they'll come do it again.
