Teens and Seeing Female Doctors

I have a 14 and 16 year old daughters and was not sure at what age do they need to see the female doctor? We live in Oakville and wanted to see if there were any recommendations for them. Thanks.

What can I do next?

I started going to see an OBGYN at the age of 16. My doctor is located off Watson Road (about a block from Lindbergh on the side of 44). His name is Dr. Boedeker. His office is called SSM Women's Center. I know that there are a few other doctor's in his office (there may also be a female doctor too). He is great doctor. He has good bedside manners and will sit down and talk to you about any issues or questions. His office number is ###-###-####

I started going when I was 17yrs old but I am not sure what the recommendation would be. I have a wonderful OB/GYN, Dr. Donald Lange. Your daughters may want a female but if a male is Ok with them he is very nice and he meets with new pateints in his office to talk before the exam whichs helps patients feel more comfortable. He is located off Tesson Ferry next to McDonald's in the Cedar Park Plaza Medical Building.

I would say when they start their period. I go to an incredible female OB/Gyn, Gladys Tse. I believe she is at Barnes Jewish, on Kingshwy, but she may also have hours at Mo Bap. I find it is very important to have a female doctor. A woman who shares the same feelings, body parts etc.

Five years ago my daughter, then 13, asked me to find out from my OB/GYN when I had my appt. I was told my daughter does not need a OB/GYN until she is sexually active. My daughter turned 18 this year, she picked out her own internist who is female. She still does not have an OB/GYN nor does she need one.

Perhaps it is because I didn't raise my children in what I consider the "Millinial" fashon but my kids make their own decisions I only give them a place to find needed information.

I know when I was young I started going at 13 (I had issues though)... I think once a girl starts her period and by the time she is 16 is a good time to start being seen but that is just my opinion (all hormones have kicked in by then and pap smears are needed for checkups). I go to an excellent Ob/GYN doctor in Oakville/Mehville area.
Dr. Campbell at Women's Health Partners through St. Anthony's- they are located in the medical building off of Southfork Rd behind the hospital and right by the YMCA off of Tesson Ferry Road. Her number is ###-###-####

Dr. COllins is very nice too who is one of the partners but Dr. Campbell is who I see and would recommend her to anyone. She listens and takes the time to answer your questions and really cares about the patient's well being. Good luck!

Dr. Jerome Sacher and Dr. (Michael?) Wasserman are both really great.

If you are referring to a gyno, I was always told that girls should start going at age 18 or when they become sexually active. The exception would be if there are any female problems or complications.

I started going to my ob at 14. I started then. My doctor is awesome (located in So Co.) Dr. Richard Brennan w/Brennan Obgyn. They are on Tesson Ferry across from the YMCA. Good luck.
