Teachers Assistant / Aide

Well I have applied a few times and have gotten the job they really do not pay what I thought they would. So if you aren't looking for well paying job then it would be perfect.

Are you in Brownwood? If so, take a resume to the main office at the corner of Magnolia and 4th, and they'll explain what you need. I did that in September, and since I didn't have any college, I had to take a test. I took it and passed, so now I just have to wait till June or so, when the school principals start looking over the resumes to try and find someone they want for their school. But you may want to do this in a hurry. Even if you don't live in Brownwood, look up your local school district in the phone book under "(name of your city here...) Independant School District". I am a teacher aide right now and I love being with the kids. I work at a correctional facility in central texas, so I don't get the summers or holidays off like public school, but I love the job so much, I don't care. I originally planned to get my teaching certificate, I already have my bachelor's degree, but I had another baby and you know how that goes. I'm happy with my job now and would recommend it, although I make more than public school aides do, so, you'll have to remember that aides aren't paid all that wonderfully. But the difference you make is important too, and the teachers sure do appreciate you!

I think it's great. I have been an aide for 5 years now with WFISD and I love it!! It even inspired me to go back to school and get a teaching certificate. After you have worked with the district for a year, lots of doors open up as far as advancing your education. The work is very rewarding, and while there is always the possibility of getting stuck with a not so great teacher, most are very nice. I personally prefer special education at the secondary level!! I think it's a great idea. It also depends on what type of pay you are looking for. I know in my school district, they pay their assistants around $10.00 an hour. The assistants are hired through the PTA, referrals from staff, or they are parents of students at the school.

I am currently working as a teacher's aide. I came to have my current position by simply going to the school district's web site and filling out an online application. They had a list of current job openings listed and I chose the ones that I was interested in. Within a few days someone called me for an interview and the rest is history. Hope this helps. Go to private schools and apply to be a sub or an aide. They are always looking for people. You may start as a sub and end up being hired as an aide.

I think its a great way to earn a little extra money, it doesn't pay very well, but you do get off when the kids are off, except for a few work days and training you will have to do. I would suggest volunteering in your childrens school, and once they get to know you it will be a lot easier to get on board. Also, now is a great time to start doing that. You can also become a substitute teacher/aide and start earning extra money and sometimes you can get on board that way. Check with your school district and see whats out there. Have you applied at the central personnel office? There is usually no experience necessary. If you live in Pampa, I'm sure they are looking for some.

I am a teacher's assistant at the moment. I left a job working in a hospital to become an aid so I could go back to school to get my teaching degree. I have been doing this for two years. The pay isnt great--but the benefits of having holidays and summers with my kids and the time to go back to school is awesome. I really enjoy my job and getting to work with the kids every day.
