On trash collection days, do you take the trash to the curb in the morning, or the night before?

I am sitting here, procrastinating taking out the trash. lol! Usually, I take it out in the mornings... but lately I have been in the middle of doing something on a Friday when I hear the trash truck making it's ruckus, and realize that I haven't taken it to the curb yet! So I have been trying to remember to get it out the night before. :P (I would have forgotten tonight too, but I can hear the neighbors taking theirs out and it reminded me.)

Stupid trash. lol.

What can I do next?

I try to remind hubby about it the day before because they come around 7:30 am on Tuesday and Friday. We have a dumpster in the alley that serves about 6 families and there are 4 dumpsters spaced in the back. So it is not too problematic unless it is a holiday weekend or Christmas when all the boxes are overflowing. There have been a few times in the morning I just made it before the garbage truck went down the alley.

I do it in the morning as the kids are waiting for the bus. Part of that is hoping my husband will do it. But since we moved, he seems to have difficulty doing any household chores, so I probably shouldn't hold my breath on it.

hubby takes it out before work in the morning. son brings it back after school in the afternoon. i am truly blessed among women ;)

but i still have to replace the bag in the trash can, because apparently that's not "part" of the whole taking-the-trash-out thing. oh well. life is a compromise lol.

Lots of people on my street put it out the night before. I just don't like it. I keep thinking what if a dog got loose and was able to tip over the recycling bin (it's smaller) and make a huge mess....or it rains, and the wind blows the lid open and gets everything all soggy and heavy AND THEN a dog knocks something over? And to me, it's a bit of an eye sore. I dunno. It's just personal preference. Monday nights all trash goes into the big bin, and Tuesday morning the first thing I do is take it out to the street (before breakfast, or anything else). We're early birds though. Up and dressed no later than 6:30am, and trash doesn't come by until somewhere between 8 and 9:30. It's just a habit after a little bit. Perhaps a post-it note that says "trash day" wherever your "note spot" should be? (Mine is the fridge because I make everyone's breakfasts and pack lunches first thing...my husband's spot is the tea kettle).

We put the recycle bin out the night before and take the bags out in the morning. Whenever we put our bags out at night, critters get into them.

We take it out garbage eve. Way too much going on in the morning to do it then. Also, our city has moved to the autobin system, so we don't put out bags or cans, we have these big rolling cats with lids. It looks very nice, tidy and uniform, and there is no way an animal could get into them or knock them over.

Night before =) I'm always frantically trying to get ready for work in the morning and our trash pick up is pretty early so if I'm running late to work sometimes the trash is already gone. For the most part I make the hubby do it though =)

one of the things we gave up by moving to the sticks was curbside pick-up.
now we have to load it into OUR pick-up and take it to the dumpster on the far side of the development!

Hubby takes ours out the night before Usually they have picked it up before he leaves so it goes back up before we leave for work.

Ours goes out the night before... sometimes the trashman shows up at 5:30 am and other not till almost 5:30 pm. So, it is better to get it out the night before... don't want to worry that I missed him.

Our association allows for us to put it out on the curb the night before however it states it cannot be brought out in daylight hours. I leave for work in the morning at 6:30am and the garbage collectors are already getting the trash picked up.

I don't take it out at all; that's my husband's job. ;-) He sets out the containers in the morning, because he leaves for work shortly after 5am. The garbage truck comes around 7:30.

Our garage is on an alley, and that is where the bins go, so it is simple for him to just put them out right before he leaves. He brings the bins back to the garage when he comes home.

A lot of people in the neighborhood put them out the night before. We have standardized bins for trash and recycling that can be picked up by a mechanical arm on the trucks. They have attached lids, are tall, sturdy, and hard to tip. Animals and such are not an issue.

The night before. It comes once during the week and I have to get up early enough already to go to work. I'm not getting up even earlier to take out the garbage. It comes once on the weekend, and I'm at work when it comes, so I take it out the night before.

Night before but that does allow animals to rummage through it. I am not getting up at 6:30am to do trash. Just not going to happen.

When I built my fence, I made a little alcove for the bins to sit in, by the street but still on my property. So they stay in one place :) No schlepping required.

If I really wanted to, I could drag them to the side of the house (still in full street view), but it would be silly... as out of the 50 houses or so one can see from my front yard, about 40 have the same (or similar) setup.

I was raised to gat all trash out the nifght before. My kids think I am crazy when I insist they get all trash out. We have the bins in the alley so it is not a matter of taking it to the curb or anything like that.

We get it ready the night before, i.e. have all the recycleables lined up, and take it to the curb in the morning. We live in bear country so it's advised to take it out in the morning, plus our snooty home owner's association frowns upon taking it out at night.

It goes by when one of us remember. If we think about it the night before we just put it out if not the last one leaving makes sure it is out in the morning. Our trash is picked up around 7 to 7:30 so there is little margin for error, plus we only have one pick up a week.

I'll put bags out the night before if there aren't any food items in it. Otherwise, I bag it up and put it by the door to take out in the morning. Our trucks don't come until mid morning at the earliest, so I don't have to worry about beating them out before I leave for work. We are getting the rolling bins soon and will move to once a week pickup, so I will have a couple of bags in those and plan to set it out the night before.

The garbage goes to the curb the night before. It's my son's job to empty all the wastebaskets and take the trash and recycle cans out.
