Taking Diapers and P.J.'s Off
Hi! My 2 1/2 year old daughter has been taking off her diapers and pajama's during naptimes and at bedtime. Often times she ends up wetting the bed. This has been going on for 2 months and I am getting tired of changing her bed and continuing to put on her diapers and pajama's. I have tried telling her if she does it, she can't watch her favorite t.v. show Dora The Explorer. This worked for a short time. Now I am letting her fall asleep naked, praying she doesn't have an accident. Then before I go tho bed, I put everything back on. This isn't working either! She is very smart and thinks this is a fun game. Any suggestions???

My daughter didi this too for awhile, I started putting her footie PJ's on backward with the zipper up the back so she couldn't get them off until she grew out of it.

I had the same problem until my own wise mother suggested that I put my then 2 year old in zip up jammies and safety pin the zipper closed. Worked like magic and I wondered, why hadn't I thought of that?! Good luck.

Just curious, Have you tried putting her diapers on backwards, securing it with a strip of duct tape, along with a onesie on backwards. I used this with all 4 of mine and it works wonders as they are unable to reach the snaps nor do the have the dexterity to pull of the tape. Consider to that she may just be hot so try the diaper thing, let her fall asleep like that then cove her with a light blanket.
Best Wishes

Hi T.,
My 2 1/2 year old daughter was doing this about 6-8 months ago. I know it is not much help but it did pass after a couple months and she didn't do it every single time. The worst is when I woke up one morning and went in her room and found a poo on the floor! Needless to say, my husband and I just kept telling her that this behavior was unacceptable and she eventually stopped. I did try the ducktape and my daughter managed to get out of it! We had been out of onesie pajamas so long that I didn't even want to bother getting zippered pj's. She has done it once since, but no big deal. I had initially though it was a sign that she wanted to potty train. Have you talked to her about that? I know it sucks....but hang in there.

My oldest boy did the same thing when he was about a year old, until I got a great idea. I took some of the one-piece footed pajamas, cut off the feet, and put them on him backward, with the zipper in the back. It works best if the PJ's are a little large on him, so the neck is not too tight in the front. It solved the problem wonderfully, but it sure made my son mad for a while! He got over it, though.

get her some new pullups or goodnite that look like real under pants and tell her she is a big girl now and she must tell you when she needs to go to the bathroom make a big deal about her wearing big girl panties and big girls don't wet or take off her panties. this might work because they look like panties and not diapers so she should leave them on at nithg and naps. they will still give you the support of a diaper that will soak up the unrine. Hope this works for you it did for me. good luck.

My family and I have been foster parents so we have had all kids of toddlers do silly things I did have kids do that.I put there blanket sleepers on backwards and leave a small reward on there pillow(a small box of raisins ect)I also stoped using diapers to make them use the potty and use the reward system to potty train books work well and a trip to the libary is a very big kid reward.
Good luck.

Hi! T.:
My son is 22 months and I was having the same problem. He was taking off his pants then his diaper. I got alot of great ideas from Mamasource. I bought some Papmers Easy Ups; they don't velcro and he hasn't even bothered trying to take them off! Try them, they may work for you also.
Good luck!
